[CLOSED] Phat Performance Products - Centre Pipe

Postby Arith » Mon Mar 09, 2009 2:22 pm

P3 (Phat Performance Products) Centre Pipes
While speaking to Phat a while back about his mufflers, he expressed an interest in wanting to also offer a proper centre & Y-pipe for anyone interested. When combined with his dump pipe and mufflers, should be the ultimate exhaust setup for any Liberty.

However he needs at least x10 people before he could start making a jig for it, so I've been piggy backing this off of the mufflers thread for some time. Well, it looks like we finally have the numbers so I've started this new thread.

Construction
This will be made of mandrel bent stainless steel. So no folds or creases while maintaining the same 3" diameter all the way through. Near the start will be a flex joint, and there will be two 12" resonators, one after another, near the centre. There's usually just one resonator in most cases, but Phat wants a completely near stock sounding system at idle.

Pricing
Combined with the mufflers and dump pipe, the centre pipe will cost $880. Bought on it's own, it will be more. Unfortunately I don't have the pricing for buying it on its own.

Yes, one could probably get a mild steel system made at any muffler shop for cheaper, but it will be no where near the quality and fit of the Phat one. This buy will be for any discerning owner looking only for the best.

Availability
Once the spit and polish is put on and the final product is released, it will take 2 weeks from time or order to availability.

Please be aware that dump pipes are only currently available for MY07+ onwards. Dump pipes for the 2.0 turbo in MY04-MY06 models are not yet available (a Group Buy is currently in the works for that here).

Specs
- 3" mandrel bent stainless steel
- Split into two 2.5" pipes
- x2 12" resonators
- flex joint

Pictures
Unfortunately since this has yet to be made there are no actual pictures of it. But Leo has kindly taken some photos of a similar setup for his friend's Forester. The quality of the work speaks for itself.

This setup is optimised for the turbo, but I asked Phat and he said the 3.0 NA would be ok as well. Although with such large piping you might lose low end power to gain at the high end.

<scratches head>

Did I miss the post where Dump Pipes were being offered again ?

Or is it all contained in the Phat muffler thread ?

What's the combined price for the DP and centre piece - and will that combo bolt straight onto the TBSTi mufflers. I know it's not optimal but I'm still waiting on a price for those K2 gear mufflers Jim !

Cheers

Dwayne

I'll check with Phat and get back to you on that. It shouldn't be that much more sans the mufflers.

I think Phat will make a batch of dump pipes for forum members, and people who are buying them along with the centre pipe and mufflers will get priority.

OK, so given that they are yet to be made would it be a good idea to gather interest (another group buy thread aaargh  ) on who wants a Phat Dump Pipe so the right number can be manufactured ? That way those of us who have been wanting one for ages can have our opportunity to commit and make a deposit so we don't miss out.

I know you've done a bunch of these group buys Jim, and it's very appreciated. I'm happy to handle the thread and numbers but it would make more sense if everyone deposited funds to you/Phat direct.

Thoughts ?

Is MY07GT still organising dump pipes? In the muffler thread he mentioned for anyone interested in DP's to PM him. Maybe that should be your first port of call Dwayne?
