I'd help you guys out again but with the bigger turbo, phat dp & 3" custom piping that wont help most of you. Tone and noise levels will be way different.

All those who has pm'd me for the DP i am now approaching Phat with final numbers. For any of you Auto transmissions, we may need a trial fit car for half a day to ensure fitment of it.

Those who have not PM'd me for one please do so soon as this will be a limited run....... if i can get him to do it.... its looking positive.

Phil.

Hey Phil (and anybody who can share some info and experiences),

I've read an old post of yours saying ur 2.5T + DP - after a year without a tune - is running fine, just wondering if thats the case with the 2.0T? Since I'm not planning a tune, I'm pretty much deciding whether the DP is worth getting or not.. are gains noticeable on a pretty much stock car (bar the mufflers, and panel filter)? will it make the car much louder with the phat mufflers?

I've kept my car stock as for a while, but now am getting interested in more mods bit by bit..learning along the way as you do. Always been curious about the DP and recall Skooby GT saying it was the best money hes ever spent on the car, quite a statement!

Hope Phil doesn't mind if I jump in. But Norm (libsti) has been running the HKS dump pipe for quite a few months now without a tune. I know of a few other 2.0t owners who have gone without an immediate tune. The stock ECU is actually quite resilient and should be able to adjust to the new dump pipe. Your car won't be the most efficient during this time, but it's not going to blow up or anything.

I'm pretty much deciding whether the DP is worth getting or not.. are gains noticeable on a pretty much stock car

It's not so much the gains, because that will be minimal. It's the quicker spool of the turbo that you will react to. Instead of the normal delay when you stomp on the gas, the turbo spools up and kicks in quicker. You'll be like "Whoa!" I think that was everyone's reaction after their first drive upon getting a dump pipe.

Will it make the car much louder with the phat mufflers?

There will be a bit more noise inside the cabin resonated from the dump pipe area. But overall I found it made the exhaust tone deeper. A tad bit louder yes, but deeper. Go to the exhaust clips post and you can compare the before and afters.

Thanks to all who offered to help with the test fitting. But Moggy is the go for this afternoon, helping to shave 3 days off development time. Thanks, Bob!

Thanks Jim, sorry when I said gains I meant improvements overall not KW ATW per se, got my lingo mixed up! Yes, the turbo lag has always annoyed me.. minimising it would be awesome.. hmm interesting i feel my wallet tingling..

Just a quick update on the muffler development. Michael and I went across to his muffler specialist in Liverpool and we put the car up on the hoist and fitted his prototype muffs. After long discussions with the resident experts my car goes in early next week and they'll spend several hours on the 'hopefully' new cans. They put a sound meter on the prototypes and even at high revs it only indicated 84dB! I have to agree with the other guys who have tried these muffs, they sound great. Stay tuned!

8) Bob.
When I give an opinion you have to ask yourself...what the hell does he know about anything!
