Well common sense made me ask this, I have owned a fair few turbo cars and I was doing some research on the effectiveness of dump pipes and I thought the splitter might be built in. I thought the whole idea was to separate the gases to reduce turbulence.

Can cause boost spikes? I have never heard of that before, is that a common thing on the liberty's?

Do you guys have links, I am not saying the dump pipes are bad, I am asking what the reason for a splitter that doesn't press fit in against the turbo like other designs I have seen and why not. A lot of WRX dump pipe designs have the splitter so I wouldn't have thought our turbo would be similar in size inside the housing.

Tangcla cleared it up for me,

This is our turbo and clearly it would be a pain in the ass to do a splitter, HKS and AVO don't have a splitter either so done.

I hate to be a keyboard warrior, but apart from having a flipped around wastegate hinge, your turbo looks nothing like that one :D

But yes, the orientation of the wastegate is why the splitter might be a bit dicey on our cars.

Good luck with the group buy Arith. You are a glutton for punishment.

** UPDATE AS OF WEDNESDAY APRIL 1ST **

Thanks for everyone's patience. Phat has the spent the first half of this week working on the top of the dump pipes. You have to keep in mind these are all cut and welded by his own hands, so it's going slow but you know quality and care is there. The rest of the piping will be punched out tomorrow on the mandrel bend machine. After the bottom half if welded onto the cat, it's off to get ceramic coating!

Phat hopes to produce about x10 auto and x10 manual versions by next week, which should cover everyone wanting one and have a few leftovers.

Hand crafted by Phat!
