bingo

I'm sure they'd offer it to you for the $4000->6000 asking price for the 'Tuned by STi' reflash. ;) It IS an option on the price list I saw.

Next update; I spent most of the day at the muffler shop and the muff project is going quite well. They made a couple of MS muffs to use as jigs and spent a lot of time fitting them, measuring them, taking them back off then modifying them and refitting them again. They will now start production on the S/S version and hope to have the first batch next week. Whoopee! I'll only have to go over there one more time. Travelling to and from Castle Hill to Moorebank is a bastard, make no mistake!

Jim / Phat

I'm still definite for the mufflers but I'm sitting on the fence for the whole system, I have to convince the bank manager...eerrhhmm the MRS, that we need the whole system in one hit.

Bob, thanks again for sacrificing your time and effort for this project. All appreciate it.

Shane, I could easily see a custom setup made for you with a muffler and a centre pipe with resonators along with the Y-pipe. Go for it!

Cj I was thinking the same, but after talking to phat last night to get a better idea of the design and fabrication of the centre pipe, its seems like phat is once again not cutting any corners, the centre construction will have a single flex join where its connects to the dp and then run 2, 5” resonators (hotdogs), then be spilt into 2 at the y pipe of course all will be stainless steel.
Not a soobi anymore, but still slightly dirty

Full Phat system

Postby asxGT » Wed Feb 18, 2009 11:42 am

Hi Jim

I am thinking about doing the full Phat system as well.
Will it still go ahead if there are not the 10 minimum?

Cheers mark

Arith wrote:** EOI **

Guys, I was speaking to Phat this weekend, and he's considering a package deal for anyone wanting the whole shebang at the same time. Unfortunately in order to make this happen, he needs a minimum of 10 people because he'll be making a jig to mandrel bend the stainless steel pipes so the centre pipe and Y-pipe are a single piece each. So he's just throwing out an EOI to see if anyone is interested.

For $2,650, Phat is offering the following turboback package:

- Phat quad tip mufflers
- Phat dump pipe
- 3" mandrel bent stainless steel centre pipe
- x2 resonators
- 2" or 2.5" mandrel bent stainless steel Y-pipe

For comparison, HiTech offers their turboback system for $2,600. However that involves their non-ceramic illegal dump pipe (wastegate by-passes the cat), and main use of mild steel for most components.

So for those of you buying the mufflers as well as the dump pipe, it's a good opportunity to do the centre and Y-pipe at the same time. Anyone who has heard blacknwhite's car will know this will make the exhaust note deeper and even more Rexy burble. And the while noise level is kept decent level while performance is optimised.

Unfortunately not. The place that Phat uses to create the jig for the mandrel bent pipes charge an arm and a leg for him to use their facilities. In order to just break even, he needs at least 10 in order cover the costs. However after talking to him last night I will certainly be putting my name on the list for one.

The K2 Gear centre that I currently have that has the twin resonators and pipe are good for the 2.0t engine, which is still in use in Japan. However Phat's setup is optimised more for the 2.5t engine.

Looks like my K2 Gear canons and centre pipe may be on the market soon enough.
