PCD Change from 100 to 114.3

PCD Change from 100 to 114.3

Postby T-REXX » Tue Dec 23, 2008 9:46 am

Guys

PRO-Speed racing is now a distributor and Agent for KICS products
Early next year i will have quiet a few sets of these come in for the Subarus.
More and more wheels these days are coming out in 5 x 114.3 and dont fit any of the early model WRXs or STi or limited in SIZE..

This item will pretty much fix this problem and still allow upto 8 inch wide rims.

These also BOLT onto the HUB unlike other normal spacers which just sit there and arnt held in place

Price for something similar from H&Rs are $390 a set.
These are 15mm thick

Image

Price: $199 a set (set is either front or back)

Other items i have coming will be wheel nuts

Does that mean I can put a set of Brembos or similar with 18 standard GTB 07 rims?

also, i went out last week looking for some 3mm spacers from Repco (wanted the cheap stuff cos i only needed it for a week) and was thold these are not street legal. well, not in VIC anyways.

can you please shed some light on this???

As for strength, I would be surprised if they weren't as strong as an aftermarket brake rotor hat.

i have spoken to TCCA in Artarmon who sell these from H&Rs... they are saying they are legal due to being BOLTED onto the exisiting HUB assembly.. And the Studs need to be a certain length.. theu sell littearly hundreds of these a year to the Euro Cars. and some Jap cars... and strong as anything..
The KICS Japanese ones are used in teh race cars in Japan and alot of siliva guys in Australia use them....

But i still want to get RTA guidelines to make sure the legalities

ok, wrong part I guess. The studs on this spacer would be subjected to similar loads to the normal wheel studs and by the look of that spacer are mounted a pretty solid base - probably as thick as , if not thicker than the base/hub the main wheel studs are mounted in (these are 15mm thick remember - I doubt the base studs are mounted in material that thick). The base wheel studs could possibly be under increased bending loads I guess due to the increased offset.

The only big issue I could think of is guaranteeing that the spacer remains firmly fastened onto the base studs - tightening the nuts on the wheel wouldn't help with that in this case (at least by the look of the picture)

Hate to tell you this Troy, even if bolted wheel spacers are legal (I couldnt find the specific rules regarding spacers....IMO there not) any way this quote came from the RTA
Guidelines for alternative wheels and tyres

RTA wrote:An important requirement for all replacement wheels is that the wheel track must not be increased by more than
25mm beyond the maximum specified by the vehicle manufacturer for that vehicle.
Where non original axle or suspension components are fitted, the offset of the wheel in relation to the axle or stub
axle assembly used shall not be increased by more than 12.5mm each side of the vehicle based on the specifications
of the axle components used

& as your spacers are 15mm ea.....you do the maths :(

EDIT: If they are legal, you would need to modify the offset by 15mm to compinsate for the spacers to make the setup legal.

i think it even varies from state to state

SA laws are one of the strictest..

spacers are not permitted between the hub and wheel unless oem

page 14..

I have heard back from the RTA and they sent me the file which CJ1177 has quoted out of. Directly below the quote he has said is IF you do want to change a part of the Axle or the width beyond that of the OEM a signatory certificate is required.

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/ ... 9_rev4.pdf

This pretty much tells it that unless you get a engineers certifcate it is illegal.. as are rims that are on most of people cars these day and any modifications they put on them.. eg Intakes, FMC, wider tyres by more then 25mm etc, turbos, ecus, exhausts, etc etc etc. Pretty much anything that is not OEM must (within Reason) is illegal unless a certifcate has been obtained.

:)

since this has now been solved.. back on topic:)
