Group Runs

Postby massimo.berardinelli » Sun Jul 04, 2010 8:58 pm

Last week i was at eastern creek drag strip and noticed that it was OzHonda night and that they even had there own little group and lane set up and i thought that maybe if anyone is interested since its nice and coldd maybe we could have a club liberty night there. I know its $50 dollars to go and run normally on a Wednesday night and if your there by 5.00 PM and have your car checked over and all paper work done and ready to race at 6.00 PM you can get up to 6 runs. Last Wednesday it got as low as 8 degrees and i ran a 14.6 second pass in a stock 3rb which to me is pretty surprising so just imagine what all you turbo boys could manage. If this is something you guys would be interested in doing throw some dates up and we can all decide on a good date and ill be happy to make the phone calls to organize the treatment that the little OzHonda boys got.

Speaking of drag racing, I saw something of interest on a website over the weekend.

Basically a billet insert you install in place of either the front diff or center diff (can't remember which) to convert our cars into 100% RWD. That'd probably make for some good drag racing :D

Not any less than there would be now. It means you will be able to do more brutal launches without bogging down or lunching your drivetrain.

http://www.ppgearbox.com.au/page.asp?pa ... oductid=72

There is a link on that same page to the 6 Speed version which you would use.

It defeats the purpose of having a Liberty though really :). You'd still have the weight penalty of the front driveshafts and CV etc, but I imagine you could probably fabricate something to seal the sides of the gearbox so you can remove the shafts.

ive always loved rear wheel drive for the purpose of the sideways action but ive grown to love the handling of the liberty and i also love my rear tyres lol..would be a fun mod though for maybe skid pan days lol

Give it another month & I'll be keen to hit the runs :D

For those who are keen, might be worth checking out http://jscc.asn.au/... They are a CAMS affiliated car club & membership is dirt cheap if you ask me. They actually plan WSID events so that your always running with mates etc.

Will actually have their event coordinator at the Wakefield track day next week, so everyone can pick his brain :)
