looking for nearest snow

Hey all, please don't flame me for a silly question, but I'll be down in Sydney soon with some friends and we're looking at seeing if we can get to the snow (not ski, just see)
Our schedule is pretty packed with other stuff while we are there but we will have a day free and hope to take advantage of this. Getting down to the snowys won't be possible though so we were wondering if there is anywhere closer.
I've managed to find it does snow in Oberon, but is it reliable enough there that it should be possible to find snow? Any other options?
Thanks

true, i have been caught out by it in oberon, but it depends when your heading down here?
its still needs to get a little cooler before you start seeing snow in Oberon......btw you will have better luck experiencing black ice

Be down about 7th July.
from what I'd seen I had my doubts about it being consistent, but figured I'd ask some locals for help.
Thanks, will see what happens on the day I guess.

There's a reasonable chance of Snow in Glen Innes (on your way down) pretty much any time of the year. Cold hole.
Other than that, the Snowies are 4 or 5 hours drive

If a good system comes along Lithgow is a good bet.

Oberon is awesome, Not the best when your wearing motoX summer race gear (Very ventilated) But youve got various other places depending on where you wanna drive. If your lucky Oberon might get some snow.

Thanks for the help guys. A 4 to 5 hour drive is a bit much given my time table. But it looks like there are a couple of possibles. Will keep an eye out over the weekend.
