Yeah it was a great day, stunning weather

A big thanks to matt for organising it.

Next track day will have upgraded brakes and maybe a few other goodies but we will wait and see

And definatley keen for another one sign me up already unless it is the same time next year where i will unfortunatley not be able to attend due to me partying it up in europe but any other time for sure.

And again a huge thank you to matt for accom. on thurs night and organising a drinking a session and accom. on fri night and the awesome track day

Those Cayene Turbo's are wickedly quick. Big breaks, big motor & they handle surprisingly well for what they are. He ran a 1:14.3 on the track last Friday :D

Some other times (From VW Forum):

911 Turbo Coupe = 1:09

911 Turbo Convertible = 1:11.2

Polo GTI (Yellow & Dutton Rally Ready) = 1:12.3

Mk5 R32 Golf = 1:11.5

Polo GTI (With R Spec's) = 1:14

Audi TTS = 1:14

I believe you'll find it was a 996 911 :P

Btw Tony, you've got getting some thanks & praise on the VW Forum :D

996 was it? Oh well. I'm sure I heard 997 mentioned at some point. No matter. on the Cayenne, I remember mentioning to Len that "no 4x4 has any right to be that fast" as it thundered past us towards the kink. 14.3? That's damn quick for a Touareg

The Touareg R50 is also damn quick on the track... Only marginally slower then a Passat R36 :D

It's still not as quick as the Cayene Turbo S, but it's also less then half the price :P

Was just talking to my friendly Porsche informant... He informs me that Steve Pizzati was able to put the Cayene Turbo - with 5 people in it!!! - Through the first corner at Easter Creek at 195km/h!!!

So me thinks the Cayene is possibly more track ready then many of our cars... I suppose they should be at 6 times the price :P

Ive now sorted out my lap times not sure how accurate they are.

ive been told that the gps unit will be +-0.3s

Here are all my lap times for the day:

Image

my best: 1:14.5 (which i think is rubbish but who knows)
My best excluding the one above was 1:15.5 (still dunno)
Average 1:16.6

But i was generally in the mid 1:16s

So i am pretty happy that i was able to get a sub 1:20 lap time. now all i need is more power, better tyres and better brakes. The list goes on and on and on :)

i'd be happy with 1:15's at the mo... ie: stock(kinda) brakes, stock tyres, and, of course, the biggest handicap.... me at the wheel.
