2012 Track Day - Friday 14th September UPDATED pg31

The Details:

Date: Friday, 14th September 2012
Location: Marulan Driver Training Centre - http://www.mdtc.com.au
8 Prairie Oak Road, Marulan NSW 2579
Click here for directions and course map
Click here to watch a video of a lap around the course!

Schedule:
8:00 am – Gates open
8:45 am – Driver brief and track walkthrough, where they explain best way to take the corners and which gear to be in
9:00 am – Sessions commence
4:00 pm – Sessions cease

They run 10 minute sessions all day, with everyone separated into groups based on track experience and car performance. We are not tied to these groups and can intermingle throughout the day. The track is around 1km long and is not built for high speed but rather for technical ability, so the NA cars that come along have a chance of beating us turbos ;) There is a café on site which serves hamburgers, chips, drinks etc.

The Costs:

Paid before the day:
Track Hire - $1,950, with a 25% deposit of $487.50 already paid. The track hire includes a track marshal!
Lap timing - $570
Total - $2,520

Paid on the day:
MDTC licence - $30 (if you don’t have a racing licence) valid for 12 months
Helmet hire - $20, plus a $50 holding deposit which is returned once you return the helmet (not required if you already have an ADR approved helmet)
Clothing - You will be required to wear closed in shoes, long pants and a long sleeved shirt, as well as a helmet as above.

In regards to the lap timing, MDTC cannot run a “Speed Event”, and so they have to run the lap timing in a way that will be legal. Basically the only way this will impact us is that they do not reward the fastest driver on the day, they reward the driver closest to his groups allocated lap time. Other than that, there is no restriction on how we drive or how fast our laps are, they just run the event this way so it is not considered a speed event.

The Roll-call:

Other Important Information:

- MDTC has a noise limit of 90db which may result in cars with external wastegates being kicked off the track. As long as the gate is plumbed back there will not be an issue. If you are worried that your exhaust may be over the limit, carry out the following tests:
Test 1: Maintain 5000 rpm for five seconds. Requires a reading of less than 92db when measured 5m directly in line with the exhaust tail pipe.
Test 2: From the same position, return the engine to idle rpm then flatten the accelerator to 5000 rpm for a reading of less than 95db.

- The Sydney boys are considering meeting at the Cross Roads Homemaker Centre in Casula before heading down to the track. There is a petrol station near there that also stocks E85 for those who require the corn juice.

Fixed :)

It's similar distance to wakefield so shouldn't be a problem!

I will most likely be planning it for late August or in September sometime to give everyone enough time to prepare :)

Been keen to do this for a while now! Put me down. As long as I get a weeks notice I can take any day off. Plus I got a spare set of wheels that I can thrash. :D

sounds great, a monday may be best as there seems to be a bit of interest from the victorians, this would give them time to get up here.
