Wakefield Park Track Day 2010 (16/7/10)

last year we had 7 on track most of the time with 8 in one or two sessions when asked. From my perspective last year, with 8 on Wakefield at a time you are cramping the cars up a bit. This would be OK if everyone was running at the same pace and was experienced with overtaking and being overtaken but for the sort of day Mr Wasabi is setting up 8 is on the edge IMO.

10 at a time IMO will exacerbate the speed differential between cars on the track, upsetting the flow for the quicker cars as they back off for those they catch and also for the slower cars as they worry about holding others up.

All that said, let's see how many we get and sort it out on the day. Last year the last 2 or 3 hours was pretty quiet with some drivers spent and some cars spent.

I agree with the above comments

I went to a circuit club track day on the weekend, there was 62 cars there on the day and there was about 15 cars in each session.

If you get an even group of cars all alpping similar times it isnt an issue but as i encountered in the first few sessions i couldnt get a clean lap in.

After a while i got a good rythym going and my lap times dropped and for the most part i had good running with a clear track.

But a would say 10 max per session, with the 7 last year in each session there was plenty of space and room to get in a rythym and get more out of the day.

Sadly though i wont be there this year so good luck to all those who go.

On another note there is no need for any flags any more, wakefield have LED sign boards at each marshall post now.

If you are also going to have timing take some zip ties or 100mph tape as you need to attach the reciever on the outside of the car, although the first timed session the reciever was on the passenger seat and seamed to work.

just my 2 cents, but i want change

i guess the cost to some people seems expensive in that say for me, i've got my cams so don't don't need to get the Wakefield pass. The only cost for me to go down there and use the track for a whole day is the $100 daily track admission fee. I've been there with rexnet on a random wednseday and we almost had the track to ourselves. There were 10 of us and we shared the track with only 6 other randoms.

that being said i'm happy to be involved and am looking forward to the day but do hope we manage to keep the costs down if possible as from a pure dollar perspective I could get in 3 regular days for the cost of this one. i do agree with Tony though, 16 cars on the track at a time is not ideal so the booked track is definitely a good idea!

ps: Deposit paid

Wakefield run those "Speed Off The Street" days on the occasion... & it's well known the costs are on the lower side.

In terms of how many people are on the track, well I know of people going to those days & having less the 10 people (Which is fantastic)... I also know other people who have gone to those days & there has been 65 people! So it's a bit of luck really.

yeah it was a speed of the street open track so compared to a privately booked out day it's like apples and oranges. Like i said i'm more than happy be involved in this one and to pay whatever the costs end up being but like with most things, the lower the cost the better :) obviously you gotta pay to play so it's all good

Have updated the first post with more info regarding pricing etc :)

Currently have 4 spots still available (Which will decrease the overall costs for the day if we fill) so if you keen to hit the track make yourself know 8)

We're full up ladies & gents :D

So providing we don't get any last minute drop outs (Had one earlier in the week :( ), total cost for the day will be $220.00 :D

Have already received some payments in full, so please keep them coming as I need to pay Wakefield Park in full by the 15th of this month!
