Wakefield Park Track Day 2010 (16/7/10)

$295 is a lot for 1 track day guys.

I really don't feel comfortable paying this much, I don't have a need for official timing.

Not wanting to sound like a tight arse, but how much is this going to actually cost me?

Dylan, I agree it is a lot of money... Thus why until a fair few people expressed interest, it was not even on the cards.

The price of $295.00 includes the track fees + timing. Aside from this, unless you hold a CAMS 2S license, you will need to purchase a Wakefield license which should be $20.00 for one day, or $50.00 for one year... The prices I'm quoting were based on last years costs, but I don't believe they have changed... Will confirm this of course.

As the extra costs for timing are not what any of us would consider cheap, I'm putting it to a vote essentially... At this point in time, everyone I've been in contact in this forum are keen for it.

As I've mentioned previously, if there are enough numbers interested, I will increase the final numbers for the track day to 28 cars / drivers... This in turn will reduce the overall costs (Approx $250 inc timing).

Please keep the feed back coming guys & gals... At the end of the day, the choice will be based on what the majority of people want :D

Hmm, OK.

Well I am all for trying to get more people mate :) I want to do more track days, and @ almost $300 a pop it's something I will not be able to afford to do very much at all !!

I understand, if everyone wants it that's fair enough... I just wasn't expecting it to be quite so much is all.

No worries mate... Hasn't hit my account yet, but it should show up tomorrow :D Still can't understand why an EFT takes so long to sort out :P

Well, at the moment the numbers are going to be pushed up. This way I'll be able to reduce costs (Depending on the final number - Max 28) :D

So yes, if you have a friend keen, there spots are available... Get him to shoot me through the deposit ASAP & I'll lock him away mate!

Hey mate, what are the estimated costs likely to be with 28 people?

I've noticed a bit of trouble trying to get people to want to come along for close to $300 a pop, would help if I could tell them lower pricing ?

$300ish is a fair bit... But that cost was based on only 20 cars / drivers with timing... So that is the absolute maximum cost.

If we get the full 28 people (Looking likely - Have a fair few people interested from other forums) cost would be approx $230.00 inc timing.

To put it into perspective, I remember paying in the region of $300 4 years ago for a motorcycle track day at Eastern Creek. No timing. In some groups there would have been more than 20 guys in the group.

Yes, this was Eastern Creek BUT it was before the ARDC contracted out the running of trackdays (for motorcycles) to a single operator (who was allowed to sub contract track time) after which prices went up in a hurry.

I have looked into booking tracks days at Eastern Creek before….. Its almost $15000 for the day, they also have some interesting condition also, like ambo and paramedics requirements, timing fee, Marshalls fees, room hire, flag hire, safety cone hire (you can not supply your own)…… the list is endless..

Pits access is an absolute joke ….. They charge by the hour…………….

With the closure of Oran Park, tracks days will continue to increase in cost…..its a sad fact

Timing sounds good and the price is pretty good as well. Based on last year I don't think there will be too much of an issue getting the numbers up to 28. That would be 7 cars per session which I think is a good number.

Some of the track days I have seen are in the region of $800 so I think $300 is a good deal.

Matt, thanks for all your hard work on this. Let me know if you need a hand with anything as well.

I don't think $300 is a high cost for punting your car around the track as fast as you want. This is a private booking, so you can't expect the cost to be subsidised by vendors that sponsor a track day. Sure, it could be cheaper without the timing, but what would be the point if you can't time your runs throughout the day and see if you've improved?

Thanks for the feed back gents :)

For the amount of people that will be on the track + timing etc, I can assure you the price is good. Yes, you could go to Wakefield's Speed Off The Street days, but there will be approx 45 cars / drivers or more! IMHO, if you are experienced on the track, then having 10 + cars in each group sharing the track at anyone time is fine, but when there is a mix of experience, it's best to keep that number to a minimum... As I said, last year we had approx 28 people & it worked out nicely overall.

IMO the more the better………… of course not too many

Guy please bear in mind unless you have a fully spec'ed race/track car, you can not afford to running your car full pace for the entire session……

Last year each session was 15 minutes long, most cars got onto the track and completed a slow warm up lap followed by 3-4 laps fast paced laps……… if your running road tyres you will pushing them too hard, those with R spec could last longer but you have to mindful of your brakes…even those running big brakes kits

So even if we run 10 + cars per session you will not have issues with traffic and will still enjoy the track in a safe manner, of course the track marshal Mr Smythie :D :D played a big part in making sure cars were released at fixed intervals and everyone had a fair and safe day.

Point taken Mr Senator :D

My main concern is really the mix of experience... So the less we have on the track in each session, the more space there is should anything go wrong :D

Yes, Mr Smythie will be keep an eye out for us all day which is always a good thing :D

Any way... Still spots available guys! So common... Get pumped for a good fun day on the track with some of your fellow Liberty drivers 8)
