With 35 cars, i just don't see how everyone is going to have access to the instructor

This is what the day would most likely run like (from past events)

Total 35 cars:

Group 1 - 8 cars

Group 2 - 9 cars

Group 3 - 9 cars

Group 4 - 9 cars.

Approximate time on track = 20 mins per session

How does the driving intstructor jump between cars during sessions? He would also be in the car for atleast 5 laps min to really be of any help (especially if your a noob), and even then, he would have to jump back in later to check your progress - with the day structured as it is, there is really no chance in hell he can get to everyone, hence i don't think its fair for everyone to pay for him. he would really only be able to jump in one car per session, or 2 max, if the second guy in line doesn't go out with the rest of the group, and waits for the first guy with the instructor to come back in to drop him off

its a great idea in concept, but for what its worth and value to everyone, its not really practical. i reackon he'd be doing well to get to 15 people, and for those 15 people to get really good benefit from him and learn something.

it would be better to go to a driver training course if your keen on getting instructions or circuit club track day (as they have instructors on hand normally)

as for marshalling, as i said, i am happy to be waving the flag duties when i'm not out on track - and i'm sure one of the non track boys will be happy to do some track marshalling aswell - its honestly not that hard to keep time and wave people in when time is up! :P

14th of August? it's far enough away that I should be able to book the day off.

If you are prepared to take on the role with some of the other spectators, then I have no problem with not having a track marsh :D

yeah mate. I'm happy to volunteer my services on the weekends for athletes/clubs/schools I don't know so for a group of friends it'd be a pleasure.

The instructor generally only goes in the car for 2 laps... Then you pull into the pits & the instructor is then available to go into another car... He goes in another car for 2 laps & so on & so forth.

The idea of the instructor is to ensure you are taking the right lines, braking in the right places etc etc etc... IE - Go faster & harder :D

Session times are generally 15 mins each (IE - 7-8 Laps per session) so you are correct in saying that realistically he will only get to do maybe 2-3 drivers per session... No arguement there.

Trust me, although it does seem a tad all over the place with the instructors availability throughout the day, it does work. Remember, most people aren't going to be able to go hard for the entire session for various reason (Tyres getting too hot, tiredness etc).

At the end of the day, there is interest in having an instructor to get the most out of the day... & really, we are only talking about $30 or something. It's not like it a lot of money :P

Trust me guys, if it wasn't worth while I wouldn't have bothered to suggest it.

I do understand that some people are already familiar with Wakefield as a raceway & perhaps have even done numerous track days & are more then confident behind the wheel... But you'd be supprised what else you can pick up. Also, this is a group day remember, we have people of different ages, different levels of driving experience etc... We need to be catering for everyone to ensure everyone has a great time out there :D

Thanks Matt, great work and effort for the peeps going.

For someone to go out of their way to organise such an event takes abit of dedication to the members and the forum.

Personally I think add as many ppl as you can now cause no DOUBT when the time comes I am sure some ppl will not turn up.

I heard the last track day 20 plus people were supposed to come but in the end the numbers were in the teens....

just on what Brendan said earlier and you Matt. If one was to choose not to use the instructor. Would one have to pay?
