Hi All,

Aidan and myself will be meeting up on the M7 at about 5.15am. We are planning on meeting at the first emergency phone/stopping area south of the Elizabeth Dr on ramp. Not quite sure how far past the on ramp that is but am pretty sure its about 1km. There is definitely one before the HUGE Aldi building at prestons, RHS as you head south!

The reason for that location, simple, thats the on ramp that he will be using to get onto the M7!

The reason for the time, we want to ensure enough time for breaky :D

If you want to catch up with us there just give me a call 0439 464 020 but I will let you know now, I am not racing on the way down tomorrow, am saving myself for the track. 9months without a licennce can make you a little wary of police and radars and the inconvenience in life without a licence.

On that note……

All of the M5/Hume is now monitored by the Arial drones, which you can’t see no matter how hard you look.

Also remember the Police cadets like to use parts of the Hume to sharpen their radar skills closer to Goulburn.

Also road work around the first and second Campbelltown exist are littered with unmarked cars in the 80km/h zone.

NSW/Victorian police took a number of highway patrol cars off the road and replaced them with a single drone, (unmanned small plane similar to a glider), it can travel a lot higher than a standard jumbo jet and is fitted with radar and cameras. They can gauge the speed of a car by timing how long it takes to travel between the white lines painted across the lanes……………… have you noticed them on the F3, M7, M4 M5/Hume???

Once the car is detected for speeding they then alert any patrol car in that area which then pulls the vehicle over, meanwhile the footage from the drone can be sent to the patrol car making the arrest.

I know of 2 colleagues which have been nailed by this method on the F3 late last year.

I noticed those line about 8 months ago on the Hume, and always thought they were for helicopters but now I know they are for the plane, makes more sense. Pumped for tomorrow, I woke up hoping it was friday already. Going to be a long day :(

I understand back in the mid to late 80's the police started to use light aircraft to time cars between the white lines on the Hume but it turned out to be too costly so they let the white lines get rubbed out and just used the Hyw patrol.
I now understand how they are making it work for them this time, an unmaned drone would be initially very expensive but would be cost effective over time.

Lets start again....... since my earlier post is no longer visable....Ric help?????

Firsty, great day Matt, looking forward to next year already.

Well the morning started with learning how to drive the car all over again, first few sessions out were spent getting the dampener settings right, in the softest settings i was actuly 5 seconds slower then my PB of 1:18....... :( :( :( :( :( :(

After finally finding the sweet spot and lowering tyre pressures........ I managed a 1:16, I found the car was totaly tranformed not only in the corners but under braking, I noticed I spent less time on the brakes and more time feathering the throttle to easily control sliding out corners (not good when trying to improve your times, but so easy and fun   )....................But it all ended there when the head gasket let go just before lunch.

So lunch was spent talking to the man who knows all things high performance (Phat GT)....... and now the fun really begins :D :D :D :D :D

A perfect excuse to open her up for some real power

I got some very werid looks from others when I seemed OVER THE MOON about the blown head gasket
