15 mins into uploading it I realised I was uploading the one where I started recording half a second too late, I'll upload the other one tomorrow. Also up that 7 litre chev one tomorrow too.

The Evo's got bumped up into class E (turbo-charging puts them above 3000cc equivalent capacity), and the TR4 didn't show up, so the final result for Class D looked like this:

You can see doing a 180 degree spin in the dirt slowed me down a little in the first two runs! ;)
The last column says I came 8th outright (from 47 competitors).

Figured I would just update this thread with a couple of pics from the 24/10/2010 Rob Roy hill climb event.

I turned up at around 1pm and Adhar was already there with his dad who was racing the blue WRX today (the one that came to the Melb cruise in August)
Ric was also there but only as the official head time keeper and not competing this time around.
How did you go with the official CAMS license Ric?

I didn't take a whole bunch of photos, and I'm only posting a couple of the ones I took anyway.

This car looked amazing!

Same car from last time running the 650hp chev, it got a 20.68 on it's 4th attempt, which actually beat the course record!

Image
Andrew's (Adhar) dads WRX. This thing is insanely quick and had the 2nd quickest time of the day (around 23.1 I think) considering having 250hp less than the full blown racecar datsun, Andrews dad was doing very well, he even still runs the stock brakes!

Unfortunately someone managed to roll their car up the top of the track, luckily the driver was uninjured but the car as you can see did not fare so well.

The paperwork is now all signed and will be submitted to CAMS with the rest of the event paperwork tomorrow. I will officially be a "Trainee Official" once it is processed. :)

That's a bloody quick car!
He beat the "Class record" for this event.
The outright "Course record" is 17.30 seconds. http://www.mgcc.com.au/robroy/records.shtml

I heard a rumour that Vin was there, and tweaked up the ECU for a bit more power on the day. ;)

Unfortunate Renault :(

Was a great day at Rob Roy though, pity I wasn't running.

Yep Vin was there today, Andrew pointed him out to me.

My bad about the record, I don't think I heard the part about it being the class record.
To think a car could go any faster than 20 seconds is insane, but 17 seconds is mind boggling!

It was the red open-wheeler shown on that page. I was in the timing hut at the time, but it's a bit hard to see me in the background of the lower photo. ;)

Good day for it, i even got a bit sunburnt.

Not even some extra timing in the ECU could make Dad's car go any faster, the tyres were rooted and just wouldn't grip any more!!!

That hotted up Datsun is just awesome. I heard its got a drag motor and GTR AWD system!

And Kieran... how did you like my smoke? Hehe

Yeah yeah your car is fast, mine might be like that some day!
But at least I can drive mine in the wet without letting trees act as my brakes.

Either way I was kind of thinking for just a nanosecond that perhaps I should have purchased a V8 when you sped off in front of me with me having no hopes of catching up on the straight, but if it was wet I would have been able to drive across all of the continents and back to meet you just before you gained traction.

You do know the VE SS has traction control yes? Ive been in one in the wet and they gain traction pretty quickly.

I'm pretty much just going off what Andrew said today about his car in the wet, it's 250kw AtW and he says it still loses traction in 3rd and 4th, and pretty much goes nowhere from a standing start in the wet.
I learnt in a VT II R8 Clubby, I know how much traction control kicks in when it's wet, can't imagine 250kw ATW though.....

Screw traction control, it's the electronic stability program that would help the most :D

In the VE, TC and ESP are the same thing.

And its a godsend in the wet!! It still lets you break traction but just helps keeps you on the black stuff. I find it quite clever... for a holden
