3.0 spec b manual's in Melbourne - take me for a spin!

After numerous attempted fixes of a noise I'm beginning to think I'm imagining (see:
viewtopic.php?f=45&t=5465)
I am hoping another 3.0 Spec B manual driver (in addition to Ric) might consider just taking me for a drive in their car to see whether a whining noise at 2500 rpm is normal.
I'm happy to come over to your area, and just sit as a passenger - and see if the same whining noise exists. I don't like to be one of those hypochondriacs and feel perhaps I am going down that path.
Perhaps if you are heading to Tangcla's photo shoot we could do something there?

You're welcome to have another spin in mine, now you're a lot more familiar with your car's noises.
I like the idea of a Spec-B manual get together though. That would be pretty unique.

Maybe I could meet you near your work or something? I finish earlier on MOnday's, and start later on Thursdays.

Mine also has a pretty bad whining noise too. Never really taken notice of when its at its loudest. Unfortunaly im 6.5 hours from melbourne...but i wonder if it would show up in a video? My phat quads might be a little over powering maybe. Ill test it on the weekend!

Sounds just like my MY05 3.0R-B
I'd squarely put it down to a noisy power steering pump.
Try to replicate the noise when you're on full-lock (just don't stay there too long, the pump really won't like it)

Perhaps it is just normal? ahhh well.....
I seriously doubt changing the power steering pump "again" will fix much.

if it's the power steering pump I get it on my my06 2.5i. spoke to the guys at subaru glen waverly and apparently inchape (the parent company for the subaru melbourne chain) went back to subaru japan... nothing wrong with the pump apparently.
mainly does it when cold and under load (turning at stop/slow speed) but fine when it warms up. will whine on full lock.
