Baw Baw Bash - Monday 8 March

I just filled up with premium 98RON at Mobil on the Sth Gippsland Hwy (near my favorite car wash) and it was 139.6 per litre. Just shop around, you'll find some! :)

For coffee if you need one before we start, I checked out the main drag of Berwick and they all open around 8-8:30am, so we may have to wait until Yarra Junction for morning coffee, unless you bring your own.

Kind Regards,

Mark.

Weather Forecast for Monday from the BOM web site:

Forecast for Monday
Early rain in the east and south with local thunderstorms, easing to isolated showers from the north during the morning. Showers tending to rain in the southwest during the afternoon before extending eastwards later. Mild and humid with fresh to strong and gusty north to northwest winds, reaching gale force in the Alps later, tending west to southwesterly in the far west later.

The bold bit is what we are most likely to encounter. Bring ya brollies! And we will put the AWD to some good use. :D

Checklist:
1. Travellers Coffee Cup, check;
2. GPS with route, check:
3. Umbrella, check;
4. CDs for the cruise, check;
5. Full fuel load, check;
6. Oil level, check;
7. AT oil level, check;
8. Other fluid levels (brakes, power steering, coolant and windscreen washer), check, check, check;
9. Type pressures (hot), all 36 psi, check;
10. CB radios (x2), check.

See ya at 8am. I will PM those who confirmed with my mobile phone for contact.

Kind Regards,

Mark.

car just got serviced so all is good to rock and roll :)

Will check the tires in the AM on the way out, and maybe top up with some premium too.

loose items out of the boot: check.
loose items in the cabin: secured.
washer bottle: full.
sanity: missing.
CB: need to obtain...
cash: strapped
other photographer in car: rejected.
fiancee: spurned (oh crap... in trouble now for writing that...)

ps... how did you go about putting the route into your satnav? street locations or GPS co-ords?

Last time just entered the town names into my Navman, then tweaked the location by hand on screen before saving it.

I just loaded destination from Berwick to Baw Baw and then inserted via Yarra Junction. It mapped the route for me! Mind you, I do not think I will be getting lost as have driven most of these roads previously. I will most likely not use the GPS app in favour of the logging capabilities of the ECUdatascan as I have been having some issues with overheating (see other post in Technical 3.0R viewtopic.php?f=16&t=7816 )

Mark

Yeah good luck with the temp thing...

It is interesting the MY10's just have a 'cold' light and 'hot' light, no gauge anymore.... you wouldn't have picked up the behaviour with such system.

G'luck!

well it's pissing down here in Bayswater, but the radar is showing SFA rain following through for the rest of the day on the BoM Radar.

Naldo: We're meeting up in the centre carpark on the princes HWY in berwick. I'll PM you my mob #, depends if Mark gets up early enough to get on here ;)

I'll be heading off from here at 7am (better get off here then) to give time to get there without rushing.

Latest weather from BoM:

Weather Situation
A low pressure system over western Victoria will drift southwards across western Bass Strait on Monday and then to the south of Tasmania on Tuesday. A strong high pressure system will cross Bight waters on Wednesday before moving towards Tasmania on Thursday.

Forecast for the rest of Monday
Areas of rain over southern and mountain districts, contracting to the southwest by the afternoon. Scattered showers elsewhere, becoming more isolated in the far north. Local thunderstorms clearing by this evening. Strengthening northeast to northerly winds, turning westerly later in the day over western areas of the State.

Well, doessn't matter to me what the weather is doing, I will be there! :D

Guys,

A good drive. I would rate it up there with Reefton, but next time cut out the Baw Baw leg. No lane markings and very narrow road, and $5 just to have a pee when you get to the top!!! :lol: . Still good twisty bits, but with all the other sections along the way, we could do without the Baw Baw bit. Next time, I would propose that we go as far as Icy Creek, then head toward WIllow Grove.

Also, we might then get to do the Korumburra leg. Next time.

Come on WIll, I been waiting for the photos now for... 40 minutes! I guess I will start to download mine soon. :D

Kind Regards,

Mark.
