I'd agree. I just drove from Healesville to Marysville this morning, about 11am, and crawled up behind a stream of cars.
Earlier, and going the oposite way would be better :)

p.s. it was impossible to get lunch at Marysville today, nowhere to park, and queues out the door at all the cafes and bakeries. We went back to the Beechworth Bakery in Healesville for lunch, and bumped into another MG club member who had done exactly the same. ;)

Yeah either early early is good once you hit late morning/lunchtime forget it all the nonnas and pops come out for their coffee run.

17th sounds promising at this stage fingers crossed I get my car fixed by then otherwise I'm gonna be pretty cheesed off for missing 2 meets in a row.

Yes the bakery is quite nice. There is also a place next door called the Innocent Bystander which do some nice food/coffee/beer. Nice big car park too!

I'm in if it's the 17th.

I'm going to be digging cable trenches up at Rob Roy the weekend before.
A shallow one 210 metres long (for a telephone cable up to a halfway sensor on the track), and a deep one for 65 metres (for power up to the timing hut), so I'm going to hire one of these babies ;)

Is there any car park in Warburton where we could gather?
I don't think I've ever been there, and it doesn't look very promising on Google maps.
Maybe a pre-get together at the Maccas next to Lilydale Subaru could be useful ;)

17th it is!

Maccas at Lilydale is a good meeting point, some breakfast before the twisties?

Ric, let me know if you need a hand at Rob Roy as i'm only 15 mins away.

Count me in for Sunday the 17th.

If we leave early (8 or 9am) we will be arriving at Marysville at 10 or 11am. So, too early for lunch. Maybe bypass Marysville and keep going on to Buxton (additional 20 mins drive from Marysville). The Buxton Burgers at Igloo Roadhouse should not be missed and if we get there early, no problems with parking and plenty of seating inside or out. Also a full takeaway or sit down meal available and as we will be early lunchers, then we can take our time and relax.

The route is idential to the OzLiberty cruise from 28 Nov, and we did the Buxton leg as well, so no guessing involved. When we finalise the numbers, might also be worth calling ahead to inform them of our numbers for lunch as a courtesy and so they can ensure they have enough stock.

As a staring place, the Lillydale Macca's carpark is quite limited and fills quickly, so more than 6 cars and we may be in trouble. May I suggest that we use the Lillydale Lake Park, just off the Swansea Road (C401). Incidentally, Lillydale Maccas is very close to the corner of Swansea and Maroondah, so easy to navigate to the lake and a very large car park if needed.

All good as is, but just some suggestions if you feel like taking them. In any case, I will be there! :D

Hey Ric, when did you last do any ditch digging with a witch? Some years ago, I was involved in a 100 meter trench 300mm deep and it took a week and two broken chains and ... we struck some floaters below the surface that we were not banking on, so we use a fork and shovel to test the ground before running the ditch witch. Good luck with a one or two day job! :)

Never used one.
The Kennards guy estimated half a day for "normal" soil. Twice as long if it's rocky, and half as long if it's sandy.
We're running up parallel to an existing trench, so I'm hoping there' won't be any surprises :)

You're not driving that trench digger at the meet Ric ;)

IMHO there is nothing better to improve dexterity than to drive different machines once in a while. I.e. I've tried my hand on a 125cc scooter, a mini bobcat, etc.
