if you host a private track day, you don't need to be a CAMMS affiliated club...

i've asked in the past :P

How possible would it be to organise our own track day for the Libs :D ?

Hey Lukey mate,

See you parked at Sandown nearly everyday lol, didn't think you were part of the forums so never posted you up on the "Spotted" Thread.

And Ric, how much is the yearly fee?

:o and I've been waiting all this time to be spotted!

Haha, saw your car there again today. Girlfriend leaves her car there, then gets a lift from me to Uni. Any mods?

Sounds alright, a bit on the pricey side though. I do have word of a Winton Test and Tune day that may interest you Steve..
Hi all, from conversations at car wash there seems to be some interest in a Winton day in November. Seeing OTR has been cancelled and Tampered run a day with 85 cars, I think the next best thing would be one of the Test & Tune days on Friday. So I'm proposing either the 6th or 20th of November.

November is a good time because it gets a bit hot from December - February and I really, really want to see how my new suspension setup and diff work out...

Positives
- Relatively few cars
- Plenty of track time, as there are 30 minute sessions switched between cars and bikes (on the 6th it's cars ONLY)
- Cheaper than a track day
- No scrutineering

Negatives
- BYO lap timing
- Some fierce cars rock up sometimes and you need to share the track with them

Details
$120 entry fee, gates open at 8am, practice from 10am to 4:30pm. New Winton rule is that AASA or CAMs will be required for test & tune, AASA can be purchased on the day.

I reckon it'll be a good day just to familiarise ourselves to our cars as well as being on a track itself, as mentioned above you'd have to provide own timing but I'll just be going for a test of my car.

I should be definite for the Test and Tune, not sure about the Driver Dynamics day though, see how my funds are after the Test and Tune. What do you reckon Steve?

Gerald $120 entry fee.

As Steve asked who it's run by..

...it's a day run by Winton, using the term "run" fairly loosely here as there is no real organization save for them calling the start and finish of each session. Also note no ambulances ... think of it as a "Track Day Lite"

hope that helps. I've penciled myself in already just to get some laps under my belt.

Anyone else interested? Bare in mind that there might be some really quick cars on the day.. Like Porche cup cars that run in the 1min 20seconds. So you'l have to keep your wits about you and steer clear of those guys.

Yeah post that shit up Steve! I'm looking to buy a helmet in next couple of weeks too. I was considering this one it's the cheapest one I could find online from a reputable shop:

Hmm, I paid about $120 for my open face helmet a couple of years ago. $235 is the cheapest helmet I can find at Revolution Racegear now.

or $255 for some more colour variations,

or $399 for an open face one http://www.revolutionracegear.com.au/in ... imary&CDO=

That's funny, both Ric and teK posted the almost identical helmets from the same place!

Pity they don't have a store down SE...

Am I foolish for thinking you can go into a motorcycle shop and grab one? I've heard there have been pretty cheap ones out there that meet the required standards. I've heard of some places (Place next to autobarn in ringwood) selling helmets for $60.

Also heard this place is good

From what I have used, I would think it's very important to get one which has removable/replaceable liners and pads, so you can keep the helmet hygeinic. I imagine the cheaper ones $100 or less won't have such a feature.

My rationale is that $250 isn't all that much even if I use it for 2 or 3 track events a year, and perhaps the same amount of times visiting a go karting track. Over the course of 4-5 years or more that the helmet should last, that works out to not much per wear!

Although, I have been advised that for beginners an open face is preferrable for better peripheral vision of the cabin and shifter. Needless to say it's a lot less HOT.
