Subject: Tampered Motorsport CUP DAY Track Day - November 3rd, 2009

Hi everyone, he have just run another successful track day at Winton Motor Raceway, so it is time to get organized for the next one. Tuesday, November 3rd (Cup Day Public Holiday) is set to be the next Tampered Motorsport Track Day. Seeing the last day couple of days were so popular, I have decided to offer places to existing competitors first, I will be advertising the day on all the forums in the next 3-4 days, so I would advise you all to get your entries in fast. As always we will have some people available to give you some tips and to help you get the most out of your vehicle. As the event is being run on the same day as some other four legged race, we will have the plasma screen setup in the Café for the running of the Melbourne Cup.

Anyway, details for Tuesday November 3rd, 2009 are:

Entry Fee: $150 which includes Timing costs.

Spectators are more than welcome, and there is no cost to come and watch. Also you can go for a ride in the cars but you must sign on with a Passenger indemnity first. Due to the amount of passengers at previous events our insurer has put a small levy on passengers of $10. You can just pay this when you sign the forms at the Scrutineering office.

The day will kick off when scrutineering starts at 7:30am. You will need to do your paper work at the scrutineering office before you have your car checked. Please make sure you have removed all loose items from inside the car.

YOU WILL NEED:
Long sleeve and long pants of non flammable materials i.e. No Nylon
AASA license which can be bought on the day for $50 (these last for 12 months) or CAMS L2S
Closed footwear
Helmet that complies to Australian Standards (has ASA or Snell Sticker)
Car needs to be in a good condition, no oil leaks, no loose items in the car and battery secure.
Good condition tyres
Working seatbelt (give it a pull and make sure it locks)
All people wishing to attend need to make payment to the specified bank account. When you send your email with your details you will be sent an entry form as well as payment details. You will need to email the following details

I've heard that Tampered Motorsports trackdays are pretty packed, and that organisation is sometimes a bit.. Messy. That said, I'll still be in if some of our usual's attend. ie. Steve, Craig, Ric?

they usually run 5 sessions with 12 cars on the tract at the same time. so about 60 cars all up for the day.

i'd prefer to pay aboule that for the smaller groups, but know of any which are open. so if someone can find one, lets go! ;)

Okay so I did some asking around amongst my mates about what the deal is with people not liking Tampered trackdays and boycotting them, and this is just hear-say so don't quote me on the following..

- Adam, organiser of tampered days is also the owner of Winton Raceway
- This Melbourne Cup day trackdday was originally booked by OTR (On the Run) Motorsports, after booking and confirming with Winton, Winton staff contacted OTR and told them that day was now unavailable.
- Coincidentally, the day OTR had booked and was now 'unavailable' was now a Tampered day, which you guessed it. Is organised by Adam himself.
- As Gerald mentioned earlier, the number of cars on these days are very large and traffic has always proven to be in issue on the track.

So you can see why some people aren't pleased. From what I hear this isn't a one off either.

Also, again from hear-say, Adam has a personal grudge against a certain forum I'm with because they spoke up and complained about the manner in which the business was run, and has cancelled or charged additional fees such as early gate opening fees, that would not normally be charged to other clubs, hence forcing said club to work in conjunction with other clubs to co-organise days to avoid any discrimination.

I must reinforce the fact that I am by no means claiming the above is 100% true, it is just repetition of what I've heard from others.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, just thought I'd share whatever info I had.

I've heard news of another OTR day coming up, these days are also run smoothly and numbers are a lot lower. I'll keep you all posted.

Adam works for Winton, doesn't own it.

I stand corrected, either way the events that happened were very.. Coincidental. I mean if someone books the track, they book it. I don't see how its right in anyway to cancel a booking to give that spot to another group who you have a vested interest in.

I've always wanted to take my car on a track day, even though its an N/A and stock, I think it would be heaps of fun.

How possible would it be to organise our own track day for the Libs :D ?

I believe we would need to become a CAMS affiliated club which involves yearly fee and payment per track meet. This allows all the necessary insurance to be obtained.

To become a "CAMS affiliated club", we'd actually have to become a formal club, with office bearers etc.
I looked into this all a couple of years ago, and it's fairly onerous.

Driver Dynamics holds track days and you don't need a cams license or fire extinguisher. I do majority of my track days with Driverdynamics because Kev and his team run a tight shift. If you break the rules you get black flagged and if you contine to break the rules they send you home.

Hey Lukey mate,

See you parked at Sandown nearly everyday lol, didn't think you were part of the forums so never posted you up on the "Spotted" Thread.

And Ric, how much is the yearly fee?

it varies, depending up on how many members you have.
Affiliation starts at $264 for less than 41 members, up to $958 for over 200 members.
They also charge a "per event" fee for public liability insurance etc. I think a "club track day" would come under "Drive day R7B", which they don't publicly disclose the permit fee for.
