Next Melbourne meet.

Just thought i'd share an awesome bit of tarmac with you guys:

http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=Macclesfield+Rd,+VIC&sll=-25.335448,135.745076&sspn=102.855819,58.798828&ie=UTF8&cd=2&geocode=FX8qvv0dQNirCA&split=0&hq=&hnear=Macclesfield+Rd,+VIC&t=h&z=13

I took this road on a clear Sunday morning a few months ago to a friend's birthday at the Giant Steps winery in Healesville, and the road is amazing good fun for a Liberty! It's extremely narrow and twisty with dappled tree line and lots of dips and believe me, you'll be hooked!

I can't wait to blast back around that area! The lib was loving it, and pretty much stuck to the tarmac like a cat to a curtain!

I'm voting it as a part of any upcoming cruise ;)

Nice find Avon! I have driven many roads around that area but that one has not been discovered by me yet :D. Is there low traffic there? So frustrating finding a nice road and being stuck behind a tour bus and double whitelines:(

Haha reminds me of:

Cop: Why are you driving so fast?
Driver: But I'm just trying to keeping up with traffic!
Cop: But there are no cars for at least 200m ahead?
Driver: See? How far behind I am!

Lol. Nice one. there's low traffic cos it's a little off the beaten track, although a couple of cyclists almost dove into the bushes when they saw me cresting their hill at... a speed that was completely legal... and safe...

Was that before, or after you passed them? :P

looks like a good area. similar sort of turf that the easter/labour day drive took.

Silvan Reservoir would make a good photo spot as would Sky High (Kalorama).

Just had some fun with Google Maps, and we could go from Burwood Hwy/Springvale Rd (behind the burvale, good carpark there for a meet-up), round the back via cantebury rd to Mt Evelyn stopping at Silvan for photos, over to Macclesfields Rd via Yelingbo, down to Emerald, up to Monbulk via Kallista then through Monbulk to Sky High.

have lunch Sky high then head home...
thoughts?

~2 1/4 hrs driving (86km's)

Is a nice drive over Mt Dandenong. Did it in an Outback (hire car) last year and thoroughly enjoyed it

Lol Steve that is not so poor. My excuse is I tell my gf I feel like going to Pie in the Sky for lunch ;). But I think she knows because I seem more excited about driving there and back than the actual pies.
