Just letting you know that Winton are holding a 'Fun Day' on 4th July 2009 for those who are looking at an introductory day to motor-sport.
Winton Raceway is just outside Benalla so it is 3 hours outside Melbourne.
This is the chance for anyone who wants to have a punt around a race track in their car without having to pay the high entry fee's of most club days, or even getting a racing license. This is a day for everyday drivers with everyday cars. They recommend you stick to driving at 80%, but trust me you get plenty of time to explore your ability and your cars'.
It only costs $30 to enter
NO CAMS license is required
No Fire Extinguisher required
Must be over 16
Must wear a helmet
Must wear long pants and sleeves (non-flammable material) and closed shoes (no thongs)
Car must be scrutineered in the morning, so no loose items, spare and jack removed, safe tyres etc
They run the day in 20 minute sessions which you can do the whole session or come in early to give the car a break. They alternate 20 solo driver sessions and 20 minute passenger sessions.
I thought i'd let you guys know about this day, they only run about 3 per year.
