Then why all the fuss? If you just need a dark place you could probably pick from any parking lot or empty lot and nail down a place by now.

Agreed!

The problem is, dark places are usually ambient yellow lit - the problem is that it casts a bad tonal contrast, where the edges of the car will be yellowed, whilst the rest of the car is white.

It's hard to explain... but see the background in the photos of the other silvershoot? That was ambient light. Slightly yellow. And it's very yellow, in comparison to the softboxed light that I'm using...

So what is "Jacks Road, Oakleigh South" ?
Is it a carpark, or a deserted road???

I just checked in Google maps ( http://maps.google.com ) for "jacks road, oakleigh south, australia"

It's alongside "Commonwealth Golf Course", a few hundred metres from the Oakleigh Vicroads branch.

I guess it's short enough, that if there was a group of Libertys there, you couldn't miss them. :)

It's a dead-end road, and there is parallel parking on the side. Nice and dark for me to do my shooting. Also got an area where we can line up cars horizontally, reasonably well lit.

There are a few places down in that area that I would like to try, if htat place is no good :) one is the HSV headquarters.

btw, there's a La Porchetta literally just around the corner - within walking distance - so that solves the food crisis :)

Should we bother washing our cars, even tho it is raining? Did anyone want to go for a quick spray down/wash etc etc before the meet up?
