7 October 2013

Hi all

On Sat I went on a brilliant drive from Lysterfield to Healesville via the Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Rd / Woori Yallock Rd
Despite being a sunny afternoon, this route had almost no traffic, and was a very picturesque drive through Emerald, Cockatoo, Yellingbo, Woori Yallock, etc - much of which was under tree canopies.
The roads are reasonably windy and narrow, with almost no traffic lights. Importantly, there's no room to park a Commodore on the side of the road
On Sunday, we went to Maroondah Dam which is a beautiful spot, then on to Sugarloaf Reservoir via the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery, before heading home via Warrandyte.

So I thought why not propose this as a cruise. I've plotted a map as per the URL which is about 160kms and includes the following destinations: http://goo.gl/maps/olkuQ

START: Burwood Kmart (or another central point people know - eg. Carlovers)
Springvale Rd, Wellington Rd
Lysterfield Lake Park (stop for 15 mins coffee / chat / toilet / smoke)
Wellington Rd, Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Rd / Woori Yallock Rd, Maroondah Hwy
Maroondah Dam (stop for bbq lunch - 1hr)
Healesville-Yarra Glen Rd
Sugarloaf Reservoir (stop for 15 mins coffee / chat / toilet / smoke)
Eltham Rd, Kangaroo Ground-Warrandyte Rd, Harris Gully Rd
FINISH: Burwood Kmart (or split where convenient)

I reckon it'd be around 5-5.5hrs all up. Looking at the archived cruises (viewtopic.php?f=34&t=14074), this route has not been covered in the past.

My preference would be for one of the following, commencing 11am:

1. Sunday 13 October
2. Sunday 20 October
2. Sunday 27 October

If you're interested, please specify date preferences in order.

David

I'd be keen, but would find it difficult to head to Healsville without stopping at White Rabbit ;)

Great, we can add to the list of destinations.
Are you available on any of the 3 dates mentioned?

Oh yeah, whoops. All but this weekend, although this weekend is car related so i'd be pushing my luck to throw in another fuel fest in Oct. Maybe early Nov?

Fuel fest? FYI, I did this route + another 50-70kms with around 25L (~$40)
Nov would be OK for me too, except for 3rd. Oct is preferable as it's less busy.

Fuel fest = motor related event... Ain't to fussed about actual fuel consumption.
Make it cup day and i'll bum a lift to the Yarra Valley race track so i can get crunk.

Looks like a goer... heaps of interest, just need to lock in a date and a meet point that has enough room to fit two cars.

.....lol cheers mate.

I'll in turn make Callum, Jay, Jake, Naccs, Huy etc come. We should have a pretty good turn out.
Hopefully your organisation skills are a little better than joshy or jdmasfk..and we'll have an awesome day!

I don't have a V8 monster....Just yet..Maybe next year at some stage.

I can't make it as we're away that weekend. And I'm working every other weekend in October and November.
