Eastern Suburbs to Lake Mountain Cruise

Eastern Suburbs to Lake Mountain Cruise

Postby jay.ritchie » Sun Feb 24, 2013 6:27 pm

Now that i've finally done some mods to my car, (didn't want to rock up to a cruise with a stock car), i'm finally ready to hit the road!
I really enjoy the drive from the eastern suburbs (I live in Lower Plenty 3093) to Lake Mountain, and if anyones keen it would be good to get a few together and make this a thing.

Most of you probably know the drive:
-Eltham to Kangaroo Ground
- Kangaroo Ground to Yarra Glen VIA the Christmas Hills
- Yarra Glen to Healesville via Old Healesville Rd
- Healesville to Narbethong VIA the Black Spur
- Narby to Marysville VIA Marysville Rd
- Marysville to Lake Mountain Resort VIA Lake Mountain Rd.
- Then home again!

Its a fun drive, you can really open it up- especially on Lake Mountain road. I turn into a wanna be race car driver. its pretty fun.
I usually do this drive at 9 on a weeknight. Just because the traffic through the spur gets ridiculous.

If anyones keen to do this in the near future, let us know!

Id be up for it, it's a great drive.

I'd be stopping at the Black Spur Inn for a beer (light of course) as a mate of mine owns it. :)

Mad! Finally...a few members who are actually interested in driving their cars as opposed to spending ridiculous amounts of time and money modding it, tuning it etc...then leaving it in the garage to look at

Whats the etiquette when it comes to these "cruises"?
Does everyone do the speed limit or does everyone throw their cars into corners?

I'd suggest nice twisty roads with highish speed limits that allow you to take the bends at a good clip without REALLY breaking the limit. Have to be extra careful nowadays with the coppers hiding in the trees etc!

Agreed. The spur is their hotspot.
This drive has 80kmh speed limits through the turns, you'd struggle to go any faster around most of them!
Sticking close to the limit on the highway between these roads is a good idea
