Dent and possible spray

Dent and possible spray

Postby wrpten » Mon Feb 04, 2013 5:38 pm

Hi Guys,

One of the cars I'm looking into has copped a little bit of damage on some of the side panels as well as on the front bumper.

Do you have anyone/company to recommend to have these looked out. What do you think the cost would be to get the dents out and the car back to normal. I am in the S.E suburbs.

I tried scratch busters but they feel that they are " too deep for PDR work and will thus need to be filled and painted which if this is the bonnet will be a panel shop job."

I'm trying to factor the cost of this repair if i do purchase the car. Its Black STI 06 Liberty.

This won't completely help, but there's a mob I've used before in Sydney called 1800-BUMPER who fix all sorts of localised problems like this and they'd probably quote absolutely no more than $400 for a relatively complex job, which that one isn't, so I'd expect probably in the vicinity of $200-$250 to fix, max.

I'm sure a local mobile repair outfit would be similarly priced.

If you want, submit your photos to them to get an online quote and then use that as a reference guide for your local shopping.
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...

It's not always necessary to repaint the entire panel, which is where money is saved. The localised work I had done to my old WRX after minor damage from motorkhanas and skidpans was impressive and it didn't come off or look differently coloured to the rest of the panel, even two years and several 100 washes later.

Agreed. I had a spot repair and paint blended on the bonnet of a previous black car and it was perfection.

Still cost $300. If you have 3 panels to do theres $900.

ah okay at least its within my budget. 300 for each panel sounds reasonable. I guess it would be a matter of shopping around. Are any members on the forum panel beaters? in melb? prefer to give them the job rather than an unknown.

I can recommend Ideal Body Repairs in Abbotsford.

I use them for all my paint and panel needs.
