The great "alternative" Cruise - 10 Mar 2012

Postby Ric » Thu Feb 02, 2012 9:26 pm

There's obviously enough interest to organise a one day cruise in parallel with the full one.
I'm also thinking about just doing the first day.
At the very least, We'd do the run up to Jamieson together.
From there, we could either:
  • Turn around and do the road back to Eildon :P
  • Continue up to Mansfield, then run back to Melbourne down the highway.

Confirmed coming
  • Ric & Marg
  • Corsair
  • dmh87
  • egg
  • MH3.0R

Interested
  • slevo

I'd rather avoid the highway too, as it's all speed cameras and straight road. Eildon please.
I got this plan. It's called 'Save Ass'. And the way it works is this - I slip outta one of these windows and I run like a bastard!

I lean towards Lilydale to Jamieson and then Jamieson to Mansfield, so we avoid U-turns and driving back over the same road. Thoughts?

That's meant to be one hell of a good road we'd be driving back over though. ;)

As a married man, I lead a life built on consensus. Back through Eildon is fine with me. Let's do it. :D

Just some advice, eildon-jamieson road is 60km's of goodness! BUT, tiring to take in one hit, it's just constant corners, I'd recommend stopping at least once each way, especially of you're going back along it too.
There's a great lookout about 8km outside of jamieson

If its confirmed I might go as well as Im off that weekend. If coming back via Flowerdale I could just go via kinglake - Yarra Glen and back to Narre Warren way.

Yep, I'm definitely doing this.
I think we'll most likely do the second leg via Flowerdale, but I'm open to which way we come back from there. :)

Any more news on this cruise? Who's coming so far? If possible if anyone has a turbo model that could let me have drive? And you could drive mine? I just want to see what the difference is between the 2 models. If not then doesn't matter, was worth the ask.
