Guys,

Car back to STI@Docklands today and was quickly diagnosed as the non-OEM sump plug leaking. They tried a new seal and re-tightening, but the thread pitch was incorrect and the plug stripped before a proper seal could be made. No fault of STI as I supplied the plug (with a magnetic tip).

So the plume was an occasional drip of sump oil splashing onto the exhaust manifold. All good now.

Could have been worse, could have striped the thread in the sump :shock:
