By the end of 1 day, you'd likely be able to get the outer skin done on 2, if not 4 doors. But even with just the front doors done (outer layer) you'll notice a HUGE difference.

No idea of size yet. No answer on his phones today.

He bought the warehouse a couple of years ago, lives in it and rents it out
to a company as well, which he now does a bit of work for.

I'm hoping there may be a bit of spare floor space there with good lighting.
I'm shooting for enough room for 5 cars with both doors open.

I'll stay in touch. . . .

How about the group buy Craig? Where is the best place to by Dynamat from?
Cheers

That'd be amazing if you can line up a possible venue. Depending on the outcome, I'll then start a group buy for the Dynamat Extreme Bulk packs. That'll give everyone MORE than enough to do their doors and parcel shelves. For the Wagoners there may be a little left over from the Sedan boys so you can trade some spares to do tail gates, wheel arches, etc.

Sounds great Craig. (See what I did there!! Oh dear - I'm losing it totally!)

I reckon this is great reason to together, have a laugh, a chat, pizza's and get some serious sound works happening for the Melbourne crew.

Great initiative!

Cheers

P.S. When are you looking to do this?

Sooooouuuunds like this will be a bit of an all in! (oh the puns....... )

Dates will largely be determined by venue. After-all, how often do people secure a warehouse that can house ~10 cars with another 2-3 car spaces around them.

More than happy to run the day, done these kind of 50-100 people type events before on my own (with a couple of helpers when a pizza run is needed). The biggest hurdle is venues. An abandoned warehouse or truck distro shed is what we need. MASSIVE open space, walls and a roof, don't need much more. Anyone know of someone with commercial warehouse/real estate connections, I'd like to inspect a potential 'warehouse' with a few friends for a couple of hours. ;)

Hey Craig,

By 'outer skin' do you mean that the whole job will be finished? Or is 'outer skin' just one part
of the deadening process. It would be great if the workshop could see us to completion, is that
possible?

I got in touch with my mate, he's in Darwin at the moment.

His factory is a no-go, no space to spare, but he has a few mates
with factories across the road, and possibly a lead to an agent who
could throw us the keys to an empty place for a weekend.

Wednesday next week before i can give any other info . . . .
Cheers

I've updated the first post with pics of what's likely to be achieved.

Craig... Feel like making some stencils up for us for the MDF?

And is it recommended to use any thicker than 3mm MDF?

Ummm, not really. Each model will be slightly different which makes it a bit hard to do a bulk lot.

I've seen people even use cardboard to achieve this task so that may even be an option. After-all, if you put deadenr on both sides of the cardboard, you soon end up with a pretty stiff bit of board.

3mm MDF is the ideal bit of kit due to it's strength, thinness and ease of working with (everyone understands wood).

If anyone wants to, you can use:
- stiff cardboard (cut it on the day)
- stiff plastic (like a milk/OJ container just bigger)
- a sheet of aluminium and some tin snips (if that's your flavour) ;)
- something else that's rigid enough but easy to cut to act as a template base for your door

Happy to help people do a double layer on the front doors. In all honesty, you'll get a better result by doing that and then you can address the rear doors in your own time.

This workshop sounds really interesting:

I just hope it can be in middle to late August (here's hoping anyway!) as I will be away.
