Melbourne cruise 13th April - PICS UP!

Postby cpitts » Mon Mar 23, 2009 9:49 pm

Out in Point Cook but don't like my chances of making a meet/run with my schedule. Given the list of burbs, a Burwood (ish) meet makes sense. Quite central to most!

Thanks for all the responces guys!

OK, i have a suggestion. I'm thinking a get together on Easter Monday might suit a few of us. 13th April.
We could meet at say 8:30am-9:00am at Bella Barista. It's a takeaway coffee shop near the Burvale Hotel
(cnr Springvale Rd/Burwood Hwy - see map below). It's a central-ish spot.

We could catch up for a bit, then go for a cruise up into the mountains and back to say Olinda, Monbulk,
Sylvan type area. I'd be happy to suggest the route, but some suggestions would be great too.

This would see us finishing around 12:00-12:30. I will put a list back on the first post of this thread.
If your coming reply to this post.

All suggestions welcome!

Maybe going away for the easter weekend. Will confirm closer when I find out for sure. But sounds good so far.

If you wanted a longer cruise, you could try a route used on a cruise I went on with my other forum.

It's quite a good drive. And Cardinia reservoir is quite the picturesque place (providing the weather is good).

Let me know if you want a more detailed map.

no work that day, so all should be good. Hopefully getting new treads on the car in the next week or two, so need to peel the whiskers off them :D

I should be in for this, it's close to home. I'll be back in Melbourne by Monday, too - going to be in Brisbane for some car photoshoots over Easter weekend :)

We made it early, so we could finish early. We don't want to wipe out the whole day.

I agree :D

drndrn, i'll take you up on your offer, could you please give us a more detailed map?

We'll pick it up from Belgrave since we'll be starting on Burwood Highway.

How long did that cruise take?
Cheers

Sorry to hi-jack your post Mr. Blonde. :?

Will include images/maps in the coming days, capped at the moment.
Mr. Blonde or anyone else is interested in trying out the route with me, feel free to PM me. I'll be trying to find some time in the next week or so to try the route out properly and what not so we don't run into any drama on the day.

Alright, here are the detailed maps.

On the last cruise, a few cars did get lost because it isn't exactly an easy route to follow, especially if you don't know it (i was one of the lost cars ) lol. So I'll try print off some hardcopies on the day to TRY to make things easier, even though I had a copy on the day I still didin't know where to go.

Mr. Blonde I'm assuming you'll be the leading car? (You don't want a 2.5i NA to be leading you do you? :D) If you have the time perhaps you could try study the maps a little because like I said, it's really quite easy to get lost, and up that way phone reception is very limited.

Cruise Route - Approx 80minutes

Start & Section 1
*(STARTING POINT) - 8:30am - 9:00am at Bella Barista, Corner Springvale Rd/Burwood Hwy
*Head down Burwood Hwy all the way through Ferntree Gully, Tecoma until we hit Belgrave.
*Turn right onto Monbulk Rd briefly until we hit Belgrave-Hallam Rd.
This is where we'll pick up the mountain cruise.

Section 1
* TURN 1 - Turn left onto Belgrave-Hallam Rd and continue through Shelby.
* STOP 1 - Brief stop at car park next to roundabout at Belgrave-Gembrook Rd / Jacksons Hill Rd intersection on left side

Section 2 (light twisty, some commercial)
*(+7.9KM) STOP 2 - Continue down Belgrave-Gembrook Rd, then brief stop at roadside car park on left side

Section 3 (barely twisty, wider roads)
* (+3.8KM) TURN 2 - Continue down Belgrave-Gembrook Rd, then turn right onto Pakenham Rd. Be aware of slightly bumpy roads about 2KM after this turn.

Section 4 (barely twisty, small town)
* (+5.8KM) STOP 3 - Continue down Belgrave-Gembrook Rd, then brief stop in car park on left side

Section 5 (medium twisty then open road)

* (+8.8KM) TURN 5 - Turn right at traffic lights onto Princes Hwy
* (+400 metres) TURN 6 - Turn right into Toomuc Valley Rd and stop at car park

Section 6 (light twisty then open road)
* (+50 metres) STOP 4 - Stop at large car park on right immediately after turning
* (+4.0KM) TURN 7 - Turn left onto Leppitt Rd, note that this turn is small and may be hard to see
* (+3.5KM) TURN 8 - Turn right onto Upper Beaconsfield Rd
* (+3.4KM) TURN 9 - Turn right onto Beaconsfield-Emerald Rd
* (+300M) TURN 10 - Turn left onto Stoney Creek Rd
* (+1.3KM) TURN 11 - Turn left onto Alber Rd
* (+6.4KM) TURN 12 - Turn right onto Berwick Rd
* (+1.3KM) TURN 13 - Turn right onto Wellington Rd
