ok, my draft proposal is that we do it on Oct-21 (the most popular date), and that we re-run the
"Lilydale, Warburton, Reefton, Marysville, Buxton, Healesville " cruise from 17-Jan-2010.

i.e. Route on Google maps 147km 2 hours 26 mins driving time.

Any comments/suggestions?
Note. It will be stop/start traffic from Lilydale to Warburton, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere good to gather between the two.

Could always go up donna buang to extend the cruise a little when you get into warburton, or meet at the top? nice views from up there.

The road from Warburton is sealed, but you'd have to come back down the same road. The other two roads off Donna Buang both have > 10 km gravel sections.
(i.e. direct from Healesville that we took last time, or via Fernshaw.)

FYI, here is the road Kieran is referring to: (yes, that's snow on the side)

and what the view at the top was like:

We liked the road between Healesville and Launching Place (Don Rd) a section of it is closed off during winter :) we then went down Woori Yallock Rd. If you want to add a stretch or some one wants to drive that on the way to the start?

No, not the dirt road, back down the same sealed road into warburton.
Ie rather than starting in lilydale and just following each other down the warby hwy, meet individually at the top of Donna buang and start your cruise there into warburton and up to the Reefton spur. Have done it many times and it's a more interesting beginning to the cruise.

I'm still kicking around route ideas before starting a new official topic.
