Australia Day Cruise - CANCELLED, but then again...

Re: Australia Day Cruise

Okay so Devour cannot come apparently, which leaves 3 of us
I'm fine with that though, smaller cruises makes for better driving.

Anyone else is welcome to come :assassin:

Edit: Supra is not running well....I'm about 10% as well, so cancelled.

Was just doing street view of that Don road and now I see what you mean about the gravel, so scrap that way completely.

You seem to know the roads that way pretty well, so if you want to make a route from Healsville to somewhere let me know.
Only thing I can think of is go to Marysville>Reefton.

Well, looks like the cruise is cancelled.

I will still go for a drive, but wherever the inclination takes me when I pull out of the garage! Most likely, just for the morning and back early afternoon (for the cricket).

Ric,

Probably head from Berwick to Launching Place, then Poweltown, Icy Creek, Blue Rock Dam, Thompson Dam, Walhalla to tick the box. then home. Free agent, so where ever the mood takes me!

Are you starting from Berwick?

The start is at " the Shell Service Station, cnr Heatherton and Belgrave/Hallam Roads, Narre Warren North"
Cars will be leaving from 7:30 to 8:45am, and we'll be the last car to leave.
First we'll be heading to the Harkaway quarry in Noack Rd to weigh the car, then heading somewhere north east from there.

Ric,

As I am the solo cruiser, I can modify the route without notice, so I will see you at the start around 7:30.

I might be coming along.

Ric, would I be able to get to this Narre Warren Shell servo at about 8.30am and you would still be there?

I think I'll be there from 7:15am to 8:45.
The first cars set off at 7:30, and the last lot start setting off at 8:30. We will be the very last car to go, so I don't think we'll be gone till 8:45 (altough I wouldn't be able to talk much just before we go ;))

Ok so we meet with the MG boys anytime from 7:30am (Shell servo or coffee shop nearby), then we head off for the posted route only in reverse direction and avoiding the Don Rd (gravel). We will leave from Narre Warren North heading north on the C404, right turn at Wellington Rd C413, to Clemantis, Right at roundabout onto the C412, through Emerald to take a left at C411, heading north on the C411 all the way to Healesville. Beechworth Bakery for coffee, then we pick up the original route and finish at Warrendyte, probably for lunch.

Now isn't that simple!

Well it was good fun cruising with Mark, played it pretty safe so no near misses or anything silly.
We also never saw a cop the entire time, and it was about 3 hours of solid driving all up.

We met up at the Shell servo where all the MG club people were, saw Ric for a few minutes and then we headed off.
Passed a few of the MG's that had already left and BOY were they travelling slow  - Economy runs don't look like much fun unless you have some good company in the passenger seat.

Weather turned out decent for a cruise at least, was looking a little iffy when we started with the light rain for about 20 minutes but then it cleared up mostly until we got near Kinglake and this happened....

Image

Solid fog for about 25 minutes from Kinglake and halfway to Hurstbridge.

Team white Lunch at Warrandyte.
Also the Australian flag I have is terrible, just going down Eastlink at 100 to get to the meeting spot was enough to start making it fray.

Yeah, the fog tended to dampen the mood on the way to Kinglake (no pun intended).

But I cannot believe that the push bike riders were still at it across the whole lane and with no lights! Those guys could barely be seen even at 40 kph. They are not doing anything to improve their image with other road users! :angry2:

And before any bike riders take a swipe, yes I used to ride every day to work, but with full fluorescent gear and LIGHTS, front and rear.
