APK Dinner: 20th May (thurs)

Postby sundayDriver » Sat May 08, 2010 4:37 pm

It's set. It'll be thursday the 20th May.

7:00 pm meetup.

I'll book for 6 and we can work around that if the numbers are different on the night.

I'd be up for a dinner catch up. Either APK or Ducky Duck Duck's are my preference. Any night other than Tuesday is good for me. It would be good to catch up again.

I'm one of the new, sort of Canberra, members (living just over the boarder towards Lake George) and would love to meet up with members here. However I must admit I have no idea what sort of food or where APK or Ducky Duck Duck's are. But happy to try what every there serve and meet where ever they are.

I am still waiting on delivery of my Liberty, but I did go and have a peak at in on Friday. Delay is with the paint shop doing the body kit and I hope it was finished today, they agreed for their staff to do over time to get it done. It will be then installed on Monday and detailing done and delivery on Tuesday.

G'day Mark. APK is the Australian Pizza Kitchen, they do really nice wood fired pizza's. Ducky Duck Ducks is a name we gave the 'Chinese Soup Kitchen' as we couldn't remember the name at the time and they hang ducks from the window of the store. They serve all sorts of asian food, soups are especially good.

Both are in Woden.

Ah I know the APK and agree they are good, not as good as the pizza at the Cork St Café at Gundaroo however. Not very keen on soup, to many year living in a monastery where it was soup or salad every night.

I just had the 150000 km service done at capital Subaru and they put Caltex oil in the gearbox, I started to notice that the box was starting to bind and it was snagging on the syncro into 5th.

We took it back, they drove the car and the foreman admitted that the oil was crap and they only use it because Subaru have a deal with Caltex and had Castrol oil put in the box but it hasn't fixed the problem, the spare parts guy told me that its basically my fault and i'll have to pay $500 -$600 to have it fixed.

My argument is that when they received the car that the gearbox was fine and by their own admission the oil they put in the box was inferior and now they expect me to give them another $600. I thought that they'd be able to conduct a simple routine service without fault but stupid me eh? lol. I don't wanna drive the car too much until its all sorted.

I've written to them and now the ball is in their court so i'll keep you guys updated with how I go.

But on a lighter note I'll do my best to get there any night is good for me :)

Let put it out to next week so we can give others who don't check the forum as often a chance to make it.
