Next NSW/ACT Drive Day - Postponed to October 25th
Posted: Thu Jul 30, 2009 11:50 amThe NSW group are planning another drive day to better the effort of the Victorians who have really raised the bar as far as drive days go. So, it’s time to fight back and see if we can better them. Given the success of the last trip where we joined the Canberra guys, I figure we should try the same thing again.
The cruise on Sunday September 27th has been postponed to October 25th.
The delay has been to allow for more daylight and to clear school holidays.
The Canberra route heads up through Goulburn, Taralga and Oberon to meet up with the NSW drivers prior to Jenolan Caves. We stick together back down to Goulburn where we split up again to head home.
The route for the Sydney group is west via Bells Line to Lithgow then through Jenolan Caves to Oberon. Following lunch in Oberon, we then head south through Taralga to finish in Goulburn.
I would welcome comments, ideas and suggestions. I know that the Canberra boys will have to get up a little earlier but you get home earlier.

Canberra Departure Point:
Point A – Exhibition Park (Federal Hwy)
Meet time from 7:30
Departure Time: 7:45
NSW/ACT Groups Meeting Point: Cnr Duckmaloi Rd & Jenolan Caves Road - Approx 11:30.
Lunch: Main Street – Oberon. Approx 12:30 – Departure 13:30
Finish Point – Goulburn. Approx 16:30.
Communications: UHF Channel 14
Photography: We need someone in the Sydney & Canberra group with an eye for good pictures and a good camera. I propose that they run ahead and set up at a few locations to take pictures of the cars as they come past. We will also work out some stops along the way and line the cars up.
Timing: The following attachment is the “Flight Plan” for the trip. The times are from Google Maps which I have found to be a little conservative. However, this should allow a little bit of slack should people wish to stop for other reasons.
