Quick thought - grab a cheap UHF CB radio from your local dick smith / jaycar. Hand held's go for like +$30 bucks and get a 40 channel so you have access to all channels. It makes for a cheap n eze way to chat / keep in contact on the cruise. I’m guessing the same rules apply for CB's as for mobile phone usage while driving however you can key the TX and talk, keeping it down low, so its not visible to others driving around you.

Not a bad idea getting some CB radios. Cheap ones will suit our needs fine. Good to have for future cruises too.

Im thinking of ordering a cheap one from here - http://www.prestigecom.net.au/index.php ... x&cPath=35

The Uniden UH037sx model should do the job.

Does somebody want to go halves in a 2 pack ($27 each) or 3 people want to go 4 ways in a 4 pack ($22.50 each)? Works out pretty cheap.

I will buy them on Tuesday so let me know if you want one by Monday night.

The route for the drive has been posted. :)

We should be in Nowra by about 12:30ish. It would be really cool if you guys could meet us in Robertson, or come back through to Robertson before you head home. The roads around that area are great and have been recently re-surfaced.

Cheers,

Rod.

Now the Sydney guys have posted there route for Sunday I think we need to revisit our route options again.

The route is in the first post of the NSW thread - viewtopic.php?f=36&t=5320

If we join them in Nowra we miss out on Mose Vale Road through Kangaroo Valley. Which was the main part of the cruise I was looking forward too.

I propose we look at option 3 - Canberra to Kanagroo Valley via Federal/Hume/Nowra Rd (est time 2h 30m). Join the Sydney guys on there way through Kangaroo Valley (point H). Then stop in Nowra for lunch as per NSW planned route. Continue with the NSW peeps until they turn off before Robertson (point M). Then head home via Illawara/Hume/Federal Highway.

They should be passing through Kangaroo Valley at about 11.30. So if we meet at MacDonalds in Queanbeyan at 8.45, leave at 9.00 we should meet them there right on time.

Im still keen for a pass through the Clyde, so we can always plan a ACT run another weekend in the near future.

But same as last time I will go with a majority vote. Lets start a re-count.

I vote for option 3.

another option for you on the way up. An extra 15 minutes but a LOT more fun than droning along the Hume from Goulburn to Mandurama

Option 3 with detour through Bungonia

I'm up for the option 3 route, sounds good to me. Some nice twisty bits on the way to Goulburn via Tarago etc. Smythie's option also sounds good to me. Really looking forward to this now. Wish the working week was all done and dusted though!

So, list of attendee's:

Gunna
Kevlar GT
Turtlez (meeting up with the Sydney guys/us along the way)

Who else??

Kev,

you can add me to the list too. option 3 sounds good - haven't taken that route before.

I'll be there with my cb unless there's some calamity the night before - not unheard of with me.

Tony,

we'll have to organise a dinner to talk about the dump pipe install. something for later.

I might get there earlier so I can have a quick cup of coffee etc. Will be doing a once over on the car Saturday (clean, tyre and brake check) so the car looks the goods too. Hopefully there woun't be too much crap over the roads on the way.

I might give it the once over at the lovers of cars. But it will end up covered in bugs by Sunday night anyway.

Kev - whats your thoughts on optimal tyre pressure for Sundays drive?

I might join you abit earlier too and load up on Hash Browns.

I'll probably set mine around the 38psi mark, seems to be a fairly standard setting for myself.

Any objections if a WRX joins the cruise?

Definitely no issues with that mate. Another car to add to the road trip from here is always good. Besides he can be the bait if there are any cops out !
