Act Cruise - Details

Postby sundayDriver » Wed Mar 04, 2009 4:02 pm

Just trying to gauge interest in a cruise on the weekend 25/26 April.

my preference would be to head out to honeysuckle creek tracking station. But if you have a good idea, post it up or let me know.

I'm posting this on another forum too to try and get numbers up.

this will be a drive rather than a bbq.

Date: Sunday 19th April
Destination: Cooma, Tumut, back to cbr
Meetup time: 08:45 am
Meetup place: Homeworld car park - in front of PJ O'Reillys.
Route: quickest

so far....

The honeysuckle tracking station is the one up at Baroomba, on Apollo road and does not have a cafe. The Tidbinbilla tracking station has the cafe. I went for a cruise with some of the old Foz crew from Cotter to Tidbinbilla and then up to Woods reserve for a bbq - really great facilities - and then kept on the road til we got to the Corin Dam. finished off by cruising *cough - lead footing it* back to Tharwa for an ice cream and farewells. Was a great day out (see sig block).

It's be good to see a decent turnout to a Canberra cruise.

Kev has just let me know that monday the 27th of April is Anzacs day. Personally, I don't have any plans to leave town and the 25/26 is still good for me. but if it's better for everyone if it's on the 18/19 april, then it's still early enough to move it.

let me know guys.

Good response so far guys. It looks like there's enough interest for this to definately go ahead.

I should be able to get a firm date and destination by the end of the long weekend.

Yeah, it is now nothing but concrete slabs with the "apollo walk" I think it is called - a bit of a tour of the role played in the space industry. Great drive up though and that is the main thing.

I will still be in either Adelaide that weekend so enjoy the drive and have a blast.

:wink:

This is the score. As you all know I posted this cruise thread on another forum too. There's been a bit of a drama and now there will be a new desitnation for the cruise - AND a new date. :?

April 19th
to Cooma->Tumut.
Meetup Homeworld Carpark at 8:45 am

There were only two confirmations for the honeysuckle run, so hopefully it won't be problem for either of you two. But if others are super keen on the honeysuckle route, let me know (either post it up or pm me directly).

no - I'm not going to change the route again. :oops: but I'm thinking of getting an open source tune soon and I'll do a shakedown run out there. :twisted:
