Canberra skid pan day? Any interest?

Postby Kevlar GT » Wed Oct 15, 2008 1:46 pm

Hey all,

I just wanted to gauge interest in organising a skid pan day out at the Sutton Driver Training Complex. I have been on a few in both of my old Subies and would like to get the current lib out for a thrash/splash, see how it goes in the wet with some handbrake action. :P

I'd more than likely organise it through 5Th Gear (Derek) as they/he seems to host the 'best' days. I think it's limited to 8 cars although spectators are more than welcome.

No set plans for dates yet, if we could manage it maybe early December - a pre christmas event.

Would prefer to see more GenIVs out there as the RSLC have held a day recently with a stack of earlier libs.

Not closed to Canberra residents of course, it's worth the trip from Sydney and surrounds. We've had a few Sydneysiders come down for the GTRydaz events in the past and they loved it.

Pretty sure it's a little over $100 per person but will confirm all that if we get the numbers up.

Cheers,
Kev

I'd be keen. Would just depend on the final dates & costs.

I would be keen. Could make most days in December at the moment.

Do you mind if my car is a gen3. I am mental to get this thing on the sideways. I have a few times after washing my car. Most fun you can have.

Yes please! I love these days, they are the best fun, I might have to put my stock rims back on if I do though

It sort of dies in the water but I can open it up on Ozlib to get the numbers up. I'm keen as especially since throwing the teins on the wagon.

I'll check what dates are vacant in early December and take it from there.

Post up the dates & pricing & I'll go from there.

I'm sure more people will get keen once more details have been locked away :D

No, that was lack of skill.

But seriously, I would be very interested in a skid pan day.

Ok, given that it is heading toward Christmas and weekends and events are popping up all over the place, the skid pan day through my preferred company is all but booked into the new year so might be a welcome in 2009 event. I will keep people posted as to dates and try and give you all at least 4 weeks notice.

Cheers.

hey kev

that sounds like a good solution. I have until the 7th of January on anual leave, if that helps, would still like to do some skidpan.

I'll look into ti but not sure what period (if any) these guys shut down. That close to New Years probably won't fit the schedule of most though??

Maybe Early Feb, time to recover from Christmas spending and get definite numbers. When it does happen I will more than likely ask for a deposit to secure as it'll need up front payment and I won't wear the cost of no shows or late pull-outs.

Getting deposits would be the best way.
