Who had the white wagon with the club stickers at Rob Roy Hillclimb yesterday?
I didn't catch the number plates.

Oh Ric, that was you!

Did you get any pics of the black Liberty competing, number 8? I asked my dad to take some photos of me launching it but he couldn't work out the camera. My dad doesn't mix with technology!

I didn't realise you were there. Car #8 is listed as a "Subaru WRX" on the results, but car #291 (with the same surname) is listed as just a "Subaru".

Car 291 was my Dad, in an STI WRX.
Car 8 was me in my Liberty, they listed WRX by mistake, but i heard the commentator tell everyone that its listed wrong. I was entered under WRX club, maybe that's where they got confused.

Good day though.

EDIT: I found a photo at the starting line, it's definitely not a WRX! haha!

Working.
If you saw someone in the Octunda trying to get the printer showing live run times to work, that was me.
(I eventually gave up. It worked sporadically, I'm not sure yet if there was a hardware problem, or something interfering with my radio signal.)

The rest of the time I was up in the timing hut, which is where that second photo was taken from.

FYI I just posted updated results on the MGCC website. Sorry, you just got pushed down one position ;)

Haha! sounds like the MG car club is trying to get modern!!

All good about results, i only put that car in for a laugh, i've never punted this car up that hill before, its not a race car, but i was surprised how it went!
And i'm friends with those cars that were ahead of me in the class and i know what they have spent on their cars, so my little lib didn't do too badly! hahah

Oh, and thanks for moving to new thread, i was starting to clog up the spotted one!

Hey Andrew,

Nice rims! Haha

Oh, and good time too! First run was bit slow, but you nailed the next few. You were only 2.5 sec behind your old man's WRX - not bad numbers at all! Well done. :good:

28.86 is a damn good time for a first ever run.
My best EVER in the MGA is 29.90, but that's just a 1.8L non-turbo engine! :)
Now it has a fire extinguisher fitted (and is out of warranty), my Spec-B will probably get a run up there during the MG club event on Nov-17.

Hey Ric - I wasn't saying that it was slow 'altogether' - I was saying that it was slow with respect to his next times.

Looking back, I can see how it looks like I'm commenting on you saying "First run was bit slow", but I just meant he did damn well for his first run up the hill.
I've done it heaps of times in the MG, but I'm still a bit nervous about my first "flat out" run in the Liberty. I know I can drive flat out to the first right hander in the MG, and keep my foot to the floor going around the corner. I'll probably land in the dam if I try that in the Liberty (coz I'll arrive at the corner a hell of a lot quicker!)

FYI, I was trying out fitting a video camera on the back shelf when I did that 29.90 run. :)

You can hear my left rear tyre spinning as I come over the top of the wall. I don't think I'm going to beat that time until I get a limited slip diff to stop that.

First run of the morning was quite greasy so that was my taking it easy check the track out run.

And yes Steve, nice wheels! the tyres stood up to some 4 wheel burnouts for the length of first gear too!

I've been up there before in my old car, and 2.0L n/a Gen 3 Liberty. The best i could get out of that was 30 seconds flat, it was foot flat the whole way!

Ric, you can't quite do the first turn flat in my liberty , you have to balance the throttle slightly but it handles really well, not scary at all. You do have to lift slightly when you hit the bump but you bury it immediately after that and shut your eyes and hope it goes around the second corner! Its flat out the rest of the way though.
