LGT.com boys used to hook their map lights to their dome light, for extra lighting when you unlocked / opened the doors.
Of course some of them fried their BCM's in doing so.....

Yeah best not to muck around with piggybacking off lights, in my experience also.....LED strip piggybacking off courtesy door light fried my BCM also. My dome light now permanently stays on unless I switch it to the fully off position.

i heard about your LED door strip incident

and in saying that, it wouldnt be a good idea to piggyback the map reading lights to the dome light? i was thinking about doing that

I don't see how looping off your dome light would cause problems, the LEDs don't pull alot of current.. ? what's the best installation technique??

Some of the LGT guys did it wrong, hence the frying.

Mine was related to a wire shorting due to lack of length when I got my tint done. Not Rob's fault, as the wires were stealth and under the door trim so he couldn't see them.
Luckily I was there and saw sparks coming out of the wire when the door was open with the trim pulled back, otherwise who knows what could have fried if they kept doing that for longer.

well with the piggybacking, i might get done by an auto electrician if i decide to go and see why my fog lights wont work. its a wiring/corrosion/shortage problem as i replaced the bulb in one not too long ago and it worked for 5 mins, turned it off then on again and it wasnt working.

oh haha no, it doesnt. i guess i didnt word that properly, its something that i want to get fixed, so i might get the map lights piggybacked to the dome light done professionally in one go.

Buy the biggest LED panel that will fit if you have to. 36SMD or whatever it is.
