Help with new rims

Postby mahoney » Sat Aug 28, 2010 11:33 pm

Hey all i have a 2004 atlanic blue wagon and am looking at putting some 17inch rims on it. I was looking at going in the direction of grey or black rims. Does any one have suggestions to help me out. Cheers

Check out the Gen 4 Wheels thread for some ideas:

Do you have any pics of your car? May be easier for people to see the colour etc.

+18's :D .

dont buy cheap rims also. stay genuine Subaru or spend a bit of money and buy quality. I dont understand why people buy a newish liberty and then spend $600 on wheels from bob jane t mart :?.

^ +1, this thread was created for this very reason. Lots of time and effort to create if for peoples reference so might as well use it.

Aren't stock wheels 17" already? I wouldn't go with the same size if you plan on new wheels. At least get 18's. I made the mistake a long time of going from 17 to 17. Just gave the car a different look but didn't make it look any better.

Also keep in mind you won't feel any difference if you stay the same rim size, 18's will give you a firmer feel to the road but also a be bit more grippy. (provided you get some decent tyres)

I don't see how rim diameter would affect grip. Tire width and type would do that. But a 17" and an 18" of the same tire should theortically provide the same amount of grip if they're the same width.

But I could be wrong like I usually am. :)

To OP, it all depends on what kind of look you want. If you want the rims from Bob Jane, go right ahead its all your personal choice.

Are you after 'bling' look? Or a more 'JDM racer' look? Or..
