ok,here we go. looking at getting one of these once i sell my calais v. interested to know what type of auto these use, tiptronic? i am looking to do some mods but mainly bolt on & would like to know what order would be best. this is what i thought:
1:panel filter & resonator
2:phat dp, if he makes anymore
3:quad mufflers, but dont want it loud.
4:possibly centre pipe if its really necessary.
4a:tmic
5:silicon inlet pipe, but again noise could be an issue?
5a:ecu tune,not ecutek.
6:some springs/shocks,possibly eibach?
7:rims/tyres,probably 18x8.open to suggestions as far as offset.seems to vary greatly from what i have read on here.ideas on what is the optimum offset with no guard rolling would be great.
I would also like to know who people suggest for tuning & general servicing in brisbane preferably nthside but wherever.any help with brands & actual places to buy from,i have checked out the forum sponsors so if there is none else, please point me that way.
thanks in advance for any help with these questions.
cheers
warrick

ps:i have checked the search button but i cant find things specific to my needs for everything.

Warrick I hope no one has hurt your feelings but your original post was a little confusing. Not by the questions you were asking but of your layout.

What I normally do is try to space my text out just to make things easier for the reader. :)

hi therb3.
really i didnt think it was bad enough to warrant the response i received. at the end of the day i was asking for mods advice not a punctuation lesson.as i am approaching 60 years of age i dont take those kind of lessons well. if advice regards my questions had been forthcoming it probably wouldnt have worried me as much, but obviously the people concerned were more interested in correcting me than answering questions. anyway i am not too old to learn, so i know better than to ask questions here anymore.thank you for your civil response.
cheers

Hey Warrick - don't let the banter phase you mate, we all have a bit of a rant about something or other with each other at some stage. Water under a bridge mate.

ok, i'd suggest that you plan all the bit and pieces before you do a tune, esp when yo consider how much a tune is.

i personally think that you can get away with the air filter and mufflers without too much hassle of a tune, but the moment you put a turbo intake and downpipe, a tune of pretty much necessary.

yes, these run on a tiptronic box on the autos, however, this is usually a choke point on the autos. if you intend to chase power, a transmission cooler is a must (as clarence will testify to)

i'd go with...
panel filter
mufflers
tmic

intake pipe
downpipe
center
tune

i'd do this group of stuff together...

as for spring and wheel is very much a when the need for looks grabs you.

may i also suggest that you put in a boost/wastegate solonoid with the tune as i found that i gave me problems on the MY07.

i won't comment on offsets as it's quite debated and i find that what offset you use will depend on how low the car is. i've got +50 and if i lower the car anymore... rubba-dub-dub.

1:panel filter & resonator
HKS hybrid panel filter, with resonator removed, Prove air guide, its sit just behind the grill and drafts air into the air intake.

2:phat dp, if he makes anymore
Full tbe phat of course, keep an out for second hand ones being sold or just ask phat.

3:quad mufflers, but dont want it loud.
The stock mufflers are very restrictive consider Phats if you find them second hand or again just ask him

4:possibly centre pipe if its really necessary.
Centre pipe will make things loud, I have heard phat dump, oem centre and phat muffler and it is a little louder then stock with the rumble,

4a:tmic
Perrin the cheapest and biggest going around, can be a pain to fit but its well worth it.

5:silicon inlet pipe, but again noise could be an issue?
Avo inlet pipe…… fitting this is a pain, but it works slight increase in sound.

5a:ecu tune, not ECUTEK.
Open source is ideal, where are you located?

6:some springs/shocks, possibly eibach?
Tein s tech with Bilsten are great ride, stance is a lot lower then the pink sti springs, but the ride is a lot smoother

Sorry can't help with the wheels

BTW Phat GT is a great source for parts and advice, if your Sydney based he can even fit your parts.

He has sourced all the parts mentioned above and fitted them to my car……I wouldn't go any where else.

Also consider a catch can to remove all the oil vapour from your intake and boost controller.

With the above mods and the right tune you can expect around 170 kw at the wheels

Btw I think the search feature sucks too……..
Not a soobi anymore, but still slightly dirty

thanks for the constructive replies guy's.
with regards to the tmic is there a brand that fits well? or is perrin about the best.
i am located in brisbane northside so suggestions for servicing & ecu tune would be great.
catch can is something i had forgotten but yes i agree would be good.had 1 on both my last holdens & worked a treat.
are there any walkthroughs for the catchcan install on the 07/08 libs?
silicon intake i had read was a pain.i did read somewhere that there was one that went on without having to play with the intake manifold, cant remember the brand, anyone?
thanks again for the info & please keep it coming.
cheers

TMIC:

The Perrin is a little tricky to fit from what I've heard.

AVO & Hyperflow are both fairly straight forward & easy to come by... Pretty sure Hyperflow have dropped their prices in the last few months which would make it my pick of the 2.

Catch Can:

Phat GT makes custom catch cans... However, every car he has worked on, it has gone in a different spot due to the different mods etc each person is running. There are a number of ready made options available, but in regards to fitting & brands, I have nothing to offer mate.

Silicon Intake:

Are you refering to a turbo inlet pipe, or the pipe from the airbox that meets the turbo inlet pipe?

As Mr Sentor suggest, AVO do this product (Turbo inlet pipe) & Zerosports do make a airbox-turbo inlet pipe from what I recall.

Overall:

Talk to Phat GT mate... He'll be able to point you in the right direct & can supply you with all the parts as well. He has looked after many of our members (Including me) & I wouldn't purchase parts from anywhere else to be honest.
