What Synthetic oil do you use for your Turbo car?

* For high performance & prestige vehicles including turbo diesels
* Meets the Extreme Maximum Horsepower (EMP) claim.
* Delivers maximum horsepower up to 45% longer than benchmark synthetic oil.
* Protects under extreme temperatures

I found this it says 45% longer hps? is it true?

Which one of those listed would you use for your turbo car? and why?

I think I better buy my own engine oil when I take the car to service. in case they put low quality synthetic oil for me.

what do you people think?

I've been using the Castrol Edge Sport 5/30 or the Fully synth from subaru. I've used Neo as well, but usually don't get myself organised enough to grab the oil in term for the service (has to be ordered online). I'll probably switch to Royal Purple from the next service though, but not complaints about the castrol stuff.

For turbo car, I recommend 5-50W, since in my hometown I use turbo car.

Never use 10-40 on turbo car. At least 5-40.

5-50 will pick Mobil1 or Motul.

5-40 will pick(if there's any), Fina, Motul, or Castrol edge.

Thanks

Well I thought I'd throw in my 5c about the viscosity...

(I am running Castrol Edge 5W-30)

On the track at 32degC ambient my oil was at around 105degC but I was still getting 5.0 bar oil pressure at 4500rpm. The workshop manual calls for a minimum of 3.0bar at 5,000rpm at an ambient of 21degC. I don't know how much hotter the oil runs in a comparable turbo engine, but my guess is not much as I was asking around on the day and other people were sitting on around 100-105degC as well.

I'm sure 10W-40 or even 20W-60 would give even higher oil pressure but where does it end, it gets to a point where you're losing power because the engine is trying to work through thick oil.

My understanding is that pressure is needed to protect the engine under high loads, but at the same time you need sufficiently low viscosity so the oil can flow quickly enough to cool the engine.

With a 2.5i I need all the power I can get too ;)

Now why would you say that??

Personally I would never recommed the 50 weight oil you recommend above for the later Subaru engines, yet you seem to have a problem with higher viscosity oils when cold at start up??

5w30 is the go for street and for tracking, I'd up it to either a 5w40 or 10w40

Maybe where Naldo comes from it gets really really cold in the morning and really really hot during the day

Well, it's in my country, Indonesia, where the weather is not really cold in the morning(just 25 deg). and hotter until 36 deg.

So that's why I use 50 weight.

But I talked about these oil in general, not for subaru only.

After this, I will run my Libs on Castrol Edge 5-30W.

Thanks

IMHO xx-50 oil is not needed unless you happen to be driving at very high ambient temps, very high speed, high load, highly tuned engine. Like constant hot laps around Calder Park or something. But even then you'd likely have the car set up with an oil cooler which makes a big difference.

5W-30 should be fine for you Naldo :)
