Alarm system

Postby jaybee » Wed Feb 10, 2010 8:47 am

Okay, I'm in the market for an alarm. I've looked around and I'm tossing up between an autowatch or a mongoose.

What I want to know is that everyone else has and if any one has any of the ones I'm looking at, what are their thoughts on it.

The models I'm looking at at the moment is the autowatch 555 upgrade and the mongoose MAP80S.

I chose not to install an upgrade alarm and instead chose a standalone one for the following reason:

So does that mean your not using the factory key fobs?

That's correct. I've also disconnected the factory keyless entry module.

Awesome idea. But I'm kinda keen on keeping the factory key fobs.

Anyone else done an alarm upgrade or swapped to a different one all together?

Tek - I have been advised by Subaru that MY08 Ts have a code hopping key. As such, the concerns in that post do not effect 2008 + year cars OR so I have been advised.

+1 confirmed by Subaru and also by a alarm installer not affiliated with Subaru.

Btw I have a Quick Track unit fitted, does the job well and also calls me when the alarm has been triggered…… I also got a very nice discount from my insurance company for having it fitted.

Yeah it's prob a case then whereby 2007 and earlier should bypass the factory keyless entry.
