In SERIOUS NEED of blinging

Postby Clueless123 » Wed Oct 28, 2009 12:41 pm

Ive recently purchased a 1993 Subaru Liberty GX and it is in serious need of bling. Being a female i want my car to look fierce and pretty  Sadly, this doesn't look like either. Im extremely new to Subaru's so go easy on me

Any advice on how to make my car look even slightly better will be greatly appreciated!

The first things i would do would be to get a set of wheels, and then lower it. As for wheels, i think the best looking wheels on older libertys are wheels of a newer liberty. On a 1st Gen i think 17s are plenty big enough...maybe a set of GEN4 17s off the GTs/3.ORs. I think you can get them pretty cheap on ebay etc. As for lowering im not too sure what the best option is for a 1st gen. Im sure someone can help :D

HAHA Pimp my Ride!! Luv it!

Definatly get some nice rims (i have 19's on my 92 Liberty.. and they look too big) stick with 17's or 18's.

lowering is definatly needed. and take the mud flaps off hehe

and if you want a little bit of subaru rumble.. get a sports muffler put on the back with a shiney exhaust tip. if you put a cannon on an NA they tend to sound crap (specially if its Auto)

(hmm looks like your in QLD too..damn I had 17" GT rims and low suspension that would of suited your car haha)

Did you figure that out from the plates, or have you been doing some night-time recon? :P

Welcome Clueless.

As said, wheels, lowering and tinted windows will give your car a MUCH improved look - however you need to tell us a budget! We can all suggest things, but if your funds are limited then your improvements will be limited.

Personally, I like the look of WRX 16"s on the Gen 1's, or possibly even 17" aftermarket wheels.

Lowering is good, but if your car has high kms, you will definately need new shocks at the same time (unless you've had them changed recently?)

Tinting - well you cant go wrong! should be able to get 20% tint all round for about $220 (note that this is easily defectable at this level, go 35% if you want to be safe but wont look as good)

Cheers

i'd also consider colour-coding those black plastic bits on the side and bumpers and de-badging it for that fresh and clean lines look!

Hey Clueless, I had a Gen1 Liberty before my 3.0RB. All I did was put a set of '99 WRX rims on it which I picked up for about $400, lowered with king springs, front strut brace, 2.25 inch cat back exhaust with rolled tip and tint. Doesn't take much to make them look really nice. You might even be able to pick up a set of second hand RS turbo rims which look pretty good.

As others have said- tint the windows, some Subaru alloys (03-05 WRX wheels look great!), a shiny exhaust as well and you'd be ready to go! :)

Hi Clueless, welcome to the board.

Post a side-on photo of your car, and I'm sure some of our helpful members could do a photosop of how some of the alternate rims will look. :)
