Black badges on black car?

Postby adhar » Sat Aug 08, 2009 2:50 pm

Hi fellas,

The other day i was driving past a black Porsche and it had a black badge; i thought it looked pretty stealthy and cool with the black on black.

I did a search, and haven't seen anyone who has painted their rear badges black before. Anyone done it?

What do you think, would it look rice or tryhard? I've taken my Liberty badge off altogether, but am thinking of getting a GT badge and painting it black.

I photoshopped some examples to see what it would look like - i hope the original owners of the pics don't mind.

Discuss... :D

Or for the ultimate stealth look de-badge it entirely! :D

Otherwise i think it looks alright.

I agree, that is what i've got at the moment, no Liberty badge, but i just thought the black badge might look cool.

Tangcla, did you want a black Subaru emblem? That would look good on a silver car. :D

i reckon the black badges look great on the black cars.. however would look a bit strange on lighter coloured cars ie the older camry sportivos with the black badges.. just doesn't look right

i'm thinking of doing that DIY colour emblem from LGT for mine, maybe white on the front and black on the back? :?:

Do them matt. Matt on gloss will look cleaner and even more stealth. I had matt black flames on a gloss black helmet once

Also STI badges look great with black background with gun metal grey lettering replacing the pink.

I've been a big fan of the badge-less clean look until recently when I got hold of the 'LEGACY' badge in black chrome.

Always thought a black car should have chrome trim & badges, but I think black on black looks ok.

Matches with the STi badge I have on the grill which I painted a metallic charcoal.

That looks sweet Jim. :D

I have actually ordered a 2.0 GT badge from Japanparts which i will spray black and put where the Liberty badge was. I'm thinking metalic gloss or matt black i haven't decided yet, but i'll wait until i get the badge before i decide.
