Opinions Wanted - Photoshop Preview of Wheels

Postby Hotwire » Tue Jul 14, 2009 10:56 am

Hi all,

well i'm having trouble deciding on wheels - and I have it down to 2 options:

TE37 Replica in 18x7.5 +43 offset:

XT7 Replica in 18x8 +45 offset:

Now i'm not convince on the bronze with Newport Blue, but thinking I could get them powdercoated in Silver before fitting for another $50 per wheel....

Opinions?

In those sizes, get the XT7 IMO...

Look bigger as the spokes go all the way to the tyre... The TE37's need to be bigger to suit the Liberty or at least a decently low offset!

Quick effort on silver...
kinda pushing out of my budget including powdercoating though...

XT7. But are you planning to lower the car at all?

I don't think you can go wrong with either of those to styles. But the TE37 would be my pick. I think it's design suits the wagon nicely & the colour it's in looks the goods on the blue :D

Mate, you must have it good down there in SA. Powder coating costs like $320ish for a set of 4 rims up here in Sydney.

I knew this question would come up
Yes I do plan to, but probably not for 6 or so months. Still assessing options for lowering as it seems that Tein or H&R are the way to go, but getting them for the 2.0 Aus Spec is a bit of a hassle?!

Anyway, powdercoating can be done for $160 per set - that's blast off the original 2 Pak finish and 2 coats of my choice of colour

But now i'm thinking MAYBE leaving the XT7s bronze if I get them, will depend what the wife prefers I'd say.

Well, I decided Silver is much more to my liking:

and have since found out wheels are powder coated from factory, therefore only $20 per rim for new coat - 2 coats of any silver I like :)

So,

My wheels have finally arrived, and they are white not bronze! Turns out there was one white set and as I was powdercoating them, the trader sent me the white ones.

Now this has set up a new dilemma for me - do I keep them white, or still powder coat silver? I would like to hear others opinions

Cheers

i'm not a fan of white wheels so i'd still go with the powdercoating into the silver.
Have you tried gunmetal or a slightly darker silver? will help with not being able to notice the brake dust as well :P

White wheels would look good on a Liberty but IMHO for that design wheel a white colour does not give enough depth (until they get dirty with brake dust perhaps). For white wheels you need ones that have more "3D" looking spokes, if you know what I mean.

This pic is just an example: Image

Well this is the silver finish I'll be looking for:

Kind of agree that there is a fair bit of spoke face which is white and probably a bit too bold..... So still undecided...

Ah I gotcha. OK that is a much better pic, your photoshopped ones show really shallow spokes. That wheel would look good in white as long as you get it done well and with a clear coat. Or even if you can instead of flat white get white with metallic flecks in it.

(White on blue looks great).

Uhh, miss-communication here. The white wheel photo is the actual wheel sitting in front of the car (as it arrived today in white). I just photoshopped it into the right spot with a black outline to represent the tyre. They are shallow spoke like the original silver photoshop.

The silver wheel I have shown is just another wheel (with taper) that I am using as an example of the silver I would have it powdercoated - slightly darker than the silver of the stock wheels....

I'll try get some better photo's of the wheels themselves ;)
