gauge mounting options

Here's where you can ask for suggestions what MODs you should consider. Let the experts tell you what you should add.

gauge mounting options

Postby olliej » Tue Apr 14, 2009 12:03 am

I've been chasing the cubbypod to no avail and now am tossing up between alternative gauge mounts and making my own cubby pod out of wood.

I've had a search around the forums for options but I can not find the examples in old threads for sale anywhere.

I do not want to drill my dash! So what are peoples suggestions?

How do you mean you can't chase the Cubbypod?

Find the cubby pod would be my advice :) Otherwise you may have to drill holes in the dash etc :(

Not a fan of gauges on the A pillar. The bugger restricts vision enough as it is, don't need extra restriction

really? i thought any guages that restrict the drivers view or that were on the outside of the cabin were illegal, so many cars going around with guages mounted on the pillars though...

Why is it that gauges mounted on the "A" pillar or on the bonnet illegal due to "impaired vision" when it is quite legal to have a GPS mounted half way up the height of the windscreen. I think i know which restricts the view the most & its not the gauges.
And i know why the gauges are illegal & not the GPS, because the gauges are a "HOON" mod & not a mod thats done by soccer mums.

In NSW at least, it is just as illegal to have a GPS mounted anywhere that it impedes vision. Even hanging things off the revision mirror is technically illegal. Will you be booked for it - unlikely, unless you are pulled up for something else and then they can add it to the list if they want.
