Headlights

Postby Fangin_RX » Thu Dec 04, 2008 10:10 pm

I've currently found that my 2000 Subaru Liberty's Lights and High beams are fairly dull during the night and I am currently looking into upgrading them, Does anyone have an idea of which will give me a better light source and look on the car that wont cost me an Arm and a Leg?

Can't go wrong with a set of HIDs - stay below 6000k though or it will just look ricey..

yeah I believe that 4300K is the factory standard for the JDM cars and 5000K is plenty.

I was thinking of going with 6000K, But if you think it will look bad I'll check some others out, Any websites I can check? Cause everytime I put HID Australia in google it comes up with Japanese writing or a different country selling them.

I have 6000K and its a little bluer than I wanted it to be (but still, some people do compliment it), however next time round I'll be buying 4300k or 5000k bulbs.

I bought mine from here.

edit: remember though that the higher the kelvin, the lower the light output.

Going from 5300k to 6000k you lose about 20% illumination. For a lot of people this acceptable as it is still better than halogen and they still get a white/blue colour that they're after.

If you're planning to upgrade your corner side lights with white LED's, you should consider 6000K for your headlights as they will more closely match the corner lights. Colour is just personal preference really so just check out a few different cars with different temps to see which one you like better.

I sell kits for $150 a set, with 18mth warranty if you're interested. Whatever globe type (H7), whatever colour (5000K) you want.

 haha

you should contact Leo (HKS-180)

he does his for about $180ish from memory but heaps of people including me got ours from him and they haven't missed a beat.

he also installs them for u and is willing sort out any warranty issues you may have with them as well. and his a sydney boy.

for his work and price... i wouldnt go anywhere else.

i would go for the 4300 or 5000k ones though, as much as the 6000k ones look good, you will notice a slight reduction in visibility at night... i would rather have something with more LUX and still the HID look.

Rightio Looks like Leo might be the option to go with :P. I also got fog lights anyway to make them brighter by a tad?

Cause I showed mum and she likes the 5000K. I'll PM you at a later date leo to talk about things etc

Just to clarify they will fit an MY00 2000 Subaru Liberty RX?
