Hey guys, i recently purchased a set of XXR 527's. Now i went to get them installed and was told that for them to be installed I needed my guards to be pulled, has anyone done this and if so did you run in to any problems?
Wheel size: 18x8.75 +35

Thanks, joel.

Tyre stretch will help somewhat.
What's your suspension spec? It's relevant eg if lowered, coil overs etc.
Rear camber bushes will help a little.
And where are you located? There are reputable guard rolling services out there, but have some touchup paint on hand regardless.

Use this search to research what will be required:

If you're in Melb you can test fit them on my car: 18x8.5 +35 with 235/40 tyres, Shockworks, Avo caster offset LCA bushes, WL rear camber bushes... Minimal rubbing...
My guards were aggressively rolled up n out, 3 times now and I'd do it once more eg rear left guard...

I am on coilovers, sitting at 100mm front and back. I test fitted 18x8.5 +44 but they are no where near the width of the xxr's, my mate who owns a wheel shop said i will need my guards pulled aswell as rolled.

Yeah and if really lowered, cutting the outer edges of the plastic inner guard liner is a must.
You'll get less cracking of paint if you warm up the guards before rolling, eg park in full sun, heat gun, electric blankets etc.

Be prepared for 5mm ish poke depending on how much camber you can run.
You may run out of available rear toe with the WL rear camber bushes, after which the WL KTA kit is a good option.

Running 235/40/18's would be slightly stretched tyre fitment :)

This is my spec compared to yours :)

I don't wanna run to much camber, mabey like 1.5 degrees tops. And I was gonna run a 225 tyre not a 235.

Well yeah but you can only get away with so much, the rims are going to be pokey, too much stretch exposes the rim to damage.
With such a project you can expect it to be a work in progress.
However, when I added Shockworks on stock sways (plus some braces) to my setup, it all made sense, it handles well, looks great and gets better the worse the road.
Really nice tyres helps too. I'm on Pzero Corsa asym, but AD08r would do ;)

i've heard that trimming or re-fitting the connectors on the bumper/quarter panel may also be necessary -- i have not seen much about that on here, though.

Just wondering if any of you guys who have pulled your guards have looked into if modifying the body voids your insurance?

Hey guys, just an update on the wheels. They are on!! It all sits legally, no scrubbing has occurred YET. Running max camber on my coilovers. So happy with the outcome.

Why would it do so? The insurer may refuse to pay to cover repairs to a modification they haven't been informed of, but there's no reason for it to invalidate insurance entirely unless it also makes the car unroadworthy (which significant changes to wheel width may actually do, but that's not the body as you've mentioned).
