Hi! I'm new when it comes to modifyinf cars and I've read that changing your exhaust, suspension, etc. might void your warranty or insurance? Could someone shed some light onto this? I live in WA btw and I am with RAC insurance.

Depends upon the insurance company?
This comment is based upon on-line application forms....
QBE will not allow anything to be changed from showroom stock (not even a sway bar upgrade)
GIO(NSW) and Suncorp will not insure a car with Roll Cage or Harness Seat Belts; Forced Induction by turbo or supercharger (if not factory) nor nitrous or methanol.
Justcar insurance will insure any declared and legal modification.

Warranty is another issue.
It would be fare to say that what ever part of the vehicle has been modified by other than a dealer accessory may not be covered.
Non associated components do remain covered by warranty.
Example, fit a turbocharger and the engine may no longer be covered. Upgrade a swaybar and the engine would remain covered.

Read the details on the various insurance companies products.
