Hi All.

Not sure where to post this but could someone confirm how many digits their key code is for their gen 4? The code should come on a little tag and is used to program keys for the vehicle.

Thanks

I just saw your post, sorry if the info is too late. If you still need to know, mine is 1 Letter followed by 4 Numbers.

You also can't program it yourself - the key serials are coded to the ECU, so you'll need Subaru to plug in their programming device and register all the keys you intend to use all at once via the ignition barrel, otherwise the keys you cut will fit and unlock the door, but won't actually be able to start the car.

If you are nice, they'll sometimes do it for free since it only takes about 10 minutes to do.

A locksmith I know has bought a scan tool, so he can program keys to car.
Any decent locksmith should be able to do the work of Subaru (and other brands) without requiring you to go to the dealer
